"Firstly, I want to set an example for you all, and declare that all students of this academy must always wear their school uniforms. Whether you are in class or in the common room, you are not allowed to wear any clothing other than your uniform unless there is a celebration like a ball, which requires formal attire. You may only change your uniform after you have been notified."
"Your seniors are your role models. Up to this point, we have not found any instances of a student violating the dress code by not wearing their uniform, which has been found in all the other three colleges."
Looking around at all the students in his mage robes, Shiller said: "I don't think anyone would be happy to be ridiculed as a pauper, yet if you all dress in silk and satin, it would be like constantly mocking the financial situation of others."
"Perhaps you don't care, but I hope you remember that magical talent is a blessing from God, not something that can be surpassed in academia just because you come from a privileged background."
"Your real financial status is useless in the magical realm. After graduation, everyone will rely on their own skills. If you show off too much and create enemies everywhere, I'm afraid it will make the future difficult."
Shiller did not overemphasize rules and authority, but explained the principles clearly. Most of the children understood and obediently received their uniforms to change in the nearby lounge.
Although the uniforms of the four colleges were represented in different colors, they were all black with only minor differences in design.
Zatara College, also known as the School of Magic Arts, shortened the sleeves slightly and left a part at the cuffs to tighten, preventing the sleeves from getting in the way when mixing potions or disassembling machines.
Strange College greatly shortened the overcoat cape, as it could easily lead to injury if someone pulled it down during magical combat, which would be a danger even among students.
Wayne College changed the inner collar of the uniform to a suit style, which made people look more spirited and allowed the tie to be better displayed, as they cared more about their appearance than other colleges.
Rodriguez College's uniform was very traditional for a church school: a black shirt or sweater, black trousers, soft leather shoes, a long-sleeved coat with a long tail. The difference from the Hogwarts uniform wasn't big.
The deans of each college also had to wear formal attire. The formal attire in the magic realm was actually the traditional mage robe. Since the modern mainstream magic originated in Europe, more accurately, England, the mage robes did not look much different from the school uniform. The main difference was that the tail of the outer coat was much longer, even trailing, the sleeves were wider and there were gorgeous dark patterns on the front and hem of the outer coat. Meanwhile, faculty members could wear colorful ties of various colors and patterns.
Shiller wore a deep blue Paisley tie. There was no difference when he wore a suit, but the softer material of the robe reduced his cold temperament and brought out a classical and refined style.
Shiller continued to talk about the precautions in the academy, but most of them were no different from normal school environments, such as no smoking, drinking, fighting, no late or skipped classes, required legitimate reasons for leave, and so on.
"Moreover, I feel the need to emphasize, the second room at the end of the fourth floor of the main castle is forbidden to enter." Shiller raised a hand for emphasis and said, "I hope all of you can respect the school rules and not venture into forbidden areas unnecessarily. This is the basic respect required."
"I also hope that you can relay this rule to those among you who are more forgetful. Breaking the school rules does not benefit you in any way. Only in this matter, you need to show reverence."
"Alright, now we need to elect the head of the new student grade. We do not practice democratic voting here. When you don't know much about each other, most people wouldn't know who to vote for."
"So, I'll give you ten minutes to internally elect a head of your grade. I will not interfere with your election result, and the person you choose will ultimately be the head of your grade... begin."
With that, Shiller turned around and began to tidy up the books on the shelf. Older students also dispersed one after another, leaving time for the new students. The few new students looked at each other, but no one dared to speak first.
"Hey, we can't just sit here and watch for ten minutes, right?" An African American boy rolled his eyes and said with a fast-paced tone, "I have an idea, but I don't know if you all agree."
"Do you want to be the head of the class?" A girl asked.
"No, not me. I can't handle that guy from the Wayne family. I mean him, yes, him."
The African American boy dragged Barry Allen to the center of the couch, and suddenly, all eyes were on him.
"That annoying blue-eyed boy, he just because I accidentally bumped into him, he scolded me so harshly. But his arrogance has caused trouble for himself as he missed the head of class election. If we want to make him angry, we should push up the person he despises the most to be the head."
Barry Allen's eyes widened immediately and he retorted: "No way, that's too rash! How can we decide the head of class just to spite someone?!"
But the girl who had spoken earlier blinked and said: "I think it's a good idea. Just think about it, if that arrogant and domineering guy became the head, he would definitely bully us all. Now that he doesn't have a chance, we have to seize this opportunity to humble him."
"If we let him keep going on like this, even if he's not the head, we won't have a good time, do you agree?"
The other kids nodded in agreement, as another member of the Children's Gang chimed in, "Whatever he wants, we must do the opposite. He says he doesn't want this... Uh, what's your name again? Barry. He doesn't want Barry joining our academy, so we'll keep him in this academy, and even make him class prefect. That way, if he bullies us in the future, we can throw this back at him."
"Hey, wait a second," Barry interjected anxiously, "That doesn't seem right. I'm really not qualified to be the prefect."
"You got to consider for yourself, Barry," the black boy held onto Barry's sleeve and said, "If another student is elected as prefect and can't stand up to Wayne, then you will definitely be bullied by him. He might make you do all the cleaning work, and could even make fun of you daily for being poor."
Barry was about to say that this wouldn't be so bad, but everyone else had already made up their mind. The black boy immediately extended a hand and declared, "We've already decided that Mr. Barry Allen here will serve as our class prefect. We believe in him."
Standing above on the second floor balcony, Shiller, who was watching all this, nodded without saying a word. Barry stood up suddenly, wanting to voice his opinion. But before he could speak, Kane came over enthusiastically, gave Barry a hug, and said,
"I knew you could do it. You're nothing like those unruly and impolite people. You're incredibly persistent with your choices and have a rebellious spirit against power. With you around, the discipline of our class will surely make the professor rest easy."
Barry swallowed the words at the edge of his lips. Looking up at Shiller, he noticed the professor's stern gaze turned warm, even encouraging.
Barry realized at that moment that nearly everyone present was dissatisfied with Little Bruce's overbearing demeanor. However, the majority would not stoop to the level of a child, and hence decided to retaliate in this way.
Yet, Barry couldn't refuse at this point, because he knew that someone had to step up to bear this responsibility. The important thing wasn't the duty of a prefect but the necessity to keep in check the rebellious and arrogant Wayne boy. Otherwise, he would hurt many people in school.
Barry was a child with a strong sense of justice who embodied the values of truth, goodness, and beauty. Therefore, he decided to take on this responsibility, not giving Little Bruce a chance to bully others.
"Kids, we have ten minutes before dinner. Unless there are any other concerns, join the older students for your meal in the hall. They will introduce you to your daily schedules. See you at dinner," Shiller nodded slightly at them before going upstairs. Barry watched him leave and looked down at his uniform. He sighed softly.
"What's wrong? Don't you feel well?" Kane asked, looking at Barry who was at the end of the line with concern.
Barry shook his head and said, "I am just a little worried about our future."
"Worried about Wayne?"
"Kind of. But not just that. I'm more worried about myself. I'm not sure if I can manage everything. Usually, I'm the one who follows orders."
"If that's the case, you wouldn't have attempted to refute him and reason with him when Little Wayne insulted you," Kane smiled and said, "I can see that deep down, you are uncompromising. Keep up your spirit, and he won't stand a chance against you."
"I hope so."
When they arrived at the hall, it was raining again in the inner world. The spattering raindrops fell on the stone pavement outside the hall, and the smooth slate reflected everyone's faces.
The students orderly walked into the hall. The moment Barry stepped in, he was stunned. Countless floating tables and chairs swayed in mid-air. Magical flames with a strange gleam orbited around, aromatic food flew in from nowhere and utensils fell on the table. The collision sounds were like the prelude to a grand, legendary symphony.
Standing at the entrance of the hall, the inside and outside seemed like two distinct worlds. The damp, lingering scent of the cold rain outside still lingered on his nose, but the rich and warm aroma of the food already lured his soul.
His back felt like it was still hanging off a cliff, enduring the whipping of cold wind and rain, but his arms were pulled into the door of a whole new magnificent world. Following his instincts, he walked into the hall.
Strange fantasies churned in Barry's mind. Sometimes he was flying in the clouds, sometimes sinking into the sea bed, strolling between misty mountains and forests, and climbing steep cliffs.
Hearing the clear chime in his dreams knocking on the door of his heart, he secretly made up his mind that he wanted to immerse himself in this magical world and enjoy every moment here.
With this in mind, his gaze fell onto an annoying figure sitting early next to the dining table. He thought to himself that nobody can ruin his beautiful life in Magic Academy, not even Wayne.
Just as Kane had said, though Barry seemed calm and gentle on the surface, he had a stubbornness at his core that wouldn't back down unless he hit a dead end. No one could obstruct him from what he wanted to do.
