New target

Seraphina looked at him, surprised but he only had his gaze on the city, his hands in his pockets. "Excuse… me?" She asked before he looked down at her with a sly smirk.

"Who are you, Seraphina?" He asked as he took a step closer to her.

"What do you mean?" She asked, looking at him, confused.

She remembered him asking the same question the first night they met in the hotel room and now he was asking her the same question again. Did she have a vibe she was giving off that made her look suspicious and she didn't notice? "I don't know what you're talking about… your highness…"

"You mean, Lucian." He said lifting her chin up gently. "You seem different, everything about you seems different." He mumbled, trailing his fingers down her neck, stopping on the area between her neck and her shoulder.

"Your scent is different, and I'm sure you'll taste different also." His eyes flashed red and she saw his fangs peek out for a second before he stared back at her like his usual self.

Fear rushed through her body. What if he brought her here to feed on her. Yes she knew vampires don't have human blood because of the rules and human are too weak to take the force of the blood loss, but she was on the cliff with the prince of their clan and if she was killed right here and now, no one would find her or question him for it.

"It's fine, I don't drink human blood." He patted her hair gently before walking down the cliff. She stood rooted to that spot, making him turn back to look at her. "Do you prefer staying there all night for other creatures to feast on you?"

Seraphina hurriedly dashed to his side and they both silently walked down the cliff, reaching the road where his car was parked.

"Get in." He said, pulling the door open for her to get in. She reluctantly climbed into the car and he came over next to her before he drove off. "The hospital will come over and take your father to the hospital first thing tomorrow morning."

"Thank you very much. I really appreciate your kind gesture." She thanked him. Although he didn't really know why he wanted to do that, but there was something about her that was making him act differently towards her.

"Please stop at the orphanage." She hurriedly said as they pulled closer to the orphanage.

"Why do you go there so often?" He asked and she looked at him in shock.

"Are you stalking me?"

"Why would I?"

"Well, it looks like you are stalking me." She replied as the car stopped and she pushed the door open to step out. "Thank you very much for the ride and today, your highness… I mean, Lucian."

She closed the door and walked towards the main door of the orphanage which was slightly closed. He leaned in the seat as he watched her step inside the orphanage.

"Gabriel, tell Cullen to prepare the VIP ward for a new patient tomorrow morning. I want maximum attention on him." Lucian ordered before dropping his phone.

He looked around and his senses heightened immediately. He knew she was being watched and the person watching her was a fool to do so while he was with her. "Damn." Lucian growled as he drove out of the premises immediately, alerting Gabriel to have men keep an eye on Seraphina.

"Shit, I've forgotten they go for everyone around me." He groaned as he got out of the car, dashing towards the person who was just watching him. "Amateur."

The two men standing on the nearby roof dashed as soon as they noticed him coming over to them. "He caught us." One of the men said through the communication device.

In a flash of second, Lucian appeared in front of them, making them stop in their tracks. "Adrian really getting the nerves these days to confront me." Lucian smirked as he stepped closer to them. "And it is so unlike him to send two set of amateurs to watch on me."

In the blink of an eye, the second man was down, dead. The first one trembled as he took a step backwards. "Petty human." The other dropped at his feet, his eyes still open as he took his last breath.

Gabriel appeared next to Lucian with his eyes fixed on his pad. He gently pushed his glasses up before looking up at Lucian. "You shouldn't have killed the last one, sir."

"What do you mean?" Lucian asked as they got into his car.

"They aren't Adrian's men." Gabriel informed, making him look at him with a puzzled expression. "They are from another person but I can't quite track who it is. I have asked the men to gather their bodies to be checked on. There should be at least one hint to lead us to the source of the attack."

Lucian's eyes darkened as he stared at the silent road ahead. His grip on the steering wheel tightened. "Do you want me to do anything, sir?"

"Move her father to the hospital tonight. Keep an eye on her and make sure the hospital is well guarded. I have a bad feeling about this."
