They paused first when they saw her pointing the sword at them, then they shook their heads, laughing.
"You want to fight?"
"You think you can fight us?"
Now they were mocking her, their laughter overpowering their will to actually fight, and this did not sit well with Safiya.
Their gaze furrowed when they saw that she was indeed set to fight, something they must not have foreseen. Safiya wondered if all kingdoms stopped women from doing what they wanted to do.
They walked towards her slowly, but Safiya wasn't having it. She wanted to get this over with and get out of here. The place was suddenly turned into a war ground – something her mother hated. She was glad that her mother did not come.
