The Abyssal Trenches (5)

'Bang bang fuckers!'

Slamming the body of a shark into a trio of mermen guards, I quickly swam to the side as I kicked at the broken fragments of the weapon I used to wield.

"Get back here you slippery brat!"

And the person responsible for the damage was now swinging their fists with a lot of rage.

Kicking the fragments of Impaler into the giant black and blue cloak wearing mask, I stared at the red eyes glaring at me from beyond the confines of a white plague mask.

The shards twirled crazily in the water as he quickly swung his arms and generated enough current to block the projectiles causing my eyes to widen.

'So I can use the sea like that?'

Feeling a tingle from the side of my neck, the malaise which surrounded my body burst outwards creating a very pretty orange shield around me.

And in doing so, it pushed the water away from me to create a very brief air pocket which blocked the thrown tridents.

"Thanks for that unknown dude!" Grinning, I swiftly opened my inventory to take all of the thrown tridents from the mermen as they circled around me like sharks.

Keeping an eye on all five directions, the unknown man growled as the muscles which were visible even from beneath the thick cloak rippled.

"Stay still you eel!"

"Would you if you were in my position!?"

Twisting in the water, I sent several tridents heading behind me as I quickly swam away from the large burly man.

Charging at the mermen, I grappled against them as they flinched and instinctively brought their tridents up.

Not that it mattered since they were rather weak.

Ripping the trident away, I reversed my grip as I twisted it around and stabbed it into their stomach.

They spat out blue blood.

Twisting the weapon deeper into their guts, I felt a dangerous sensation crawl up the back of my spine as I hurriedly turned around using the struggling merman as a meat shield.

And a good thing that I did, because everything up half of the trident had disappeared.

Including the body that it was impaled on.

Widening my eyes in the salt water, I stared at the cause of it.

Throwing away the cloak covering their body, it floated off to the side no doubt incredibly water logged.

'On that note, what the hell?'

Staring at the man in a very confused gaze, I saw him

If before he was just slapping at the water to create visible water currents that were able to twist the waves and turn anything in the way into bloody chunks.

Then now, he was punching at the water turning anything in the way into bloody mist.

A very simple change, but in this case, it meant that it had that much more power while also being much faster.

Ridiculously so.

It didn't help that the ones being killed were the mermen who weren't doing a thing to not die in the hands of this mask wearing guy.

'I mean, survival instinct!? Heard of it!?'

Kicking at the water I abruptly changed directions as a blast of water shook the waves I was in.

Feeling bereft in the waves, my eyes widened as the mermen took that moment to strike.

Stabbing at my body, I twisted arduously and managed to save my vitals at the cost of my left leg.

"!"

Taking that chance to punch at the waves again, the crow mask wearing man stomped onto the prismarine ground once again sending a network of cracks to travel around the platform.

Crackling, the blue stone's slowly drifted downwards as shards of stone fell down and were swept up into the whirlpool.

'!'

Twisting around the gun like punch, the water completely broke apart my fingers as the shockwave crashed against it.

Stomping on the ground again, I widened my eyes as I quickly kicked against the merman holding onto me and sent them hurtling down into the abyss.

Heading to the only other platform which wasn't a very suicidal merman, I headed to the giant pillars that had very large chains heading into the whirlpool...

'Wait a minute...'

Widening my eyes I quickly traced the giant chains to the pillars and back to the whirlpool as I realised one thing.

Since I couldn't touch the incredibly burly man who unleashed gun shot like punches that would no doubt create a new breathing hole for my body.

Why not unleash something that could?

And even if it wasn't something that could touch the man, it definitely was important looking.

Clenching my hand, I felt my fingers crush the prismarine pillar as malaise reinforced my fingertips and tore out a chunk of the pillar.

'Noted, not that much force.'

Hurriedly dodging the second gun shot onto my position, I repositioned myself and grabbed the pillar with a suitable amount of force and raised my fists.

Twisting my body starting from the legs, my waist rotated sending a great amount of momentum flowing from my legs to my arms.

Crashing against the pillar, the giant man finally flinched before moving from their position.

And although I would say I was proud that I finally could provoke this guy to move, but I wouldn't say it was a good idea to make the already hard fight even harder.

At the least I now knew that this was definitely something that the guy wanted to prevent.

So I might as well piss him off and destroy even more pillars no?

"Get back here you fucking bastard!"

Roaring out in fury, the man sent forth several consecutive punches which sent visible shockwaves through the water as they blasted towards me with the full force of cannon balls.

Throwing out my already wounded left arm, I activated the amulet of frozen flame and chose on the freezing aspect of the amulet.

Shining ice blue in the dark blue part of the sea, ice formed from my hands creating a makeshift shield while harming myself in the process.

Exploding against the makeshift shield, frozen fragments of blood floated around me as I reached another pillar.

Crashing against it, I brought out my hammer and stuck the base of the pillar making it crumble underneath it's own weight.

"Get back here!"

"No!"

Returning to our chase of cat and mouse with myself being on the receiving end this time, I lamented my inability to fight well in the water.

'I would've been shooting this guy from afar with my bow by now.'

Cursing water resistance and it's incredibly efficient ability to deprive projectiles of their lethality, I also simultaneously knew that the water was a saving grace right now.

Because if the man here could fire off bullet like punches that tore at the water, then I shudder to understand what it was that the man could unleash in the air.

Twisting around, of the five pillars, I destroyed two of them while I stared at the third one which now had a significant amount of resistance around it.

'Hoo... I guess things were meant to get harder from this point on.'

Kicking against the remaining rubble of the second pillar, the bullets whizzed past my hair as the rubble that got in it's way was reduced to nothing more than dust.

Dust that blocked his vision as I made sure to collect all of the decently sized chunks of stone for later.

Since my actual shields have been broken, I might as well take a page out of a mages book and create a shield out of stone.

Grinning I stepped on the faces of the mermen before kicking off of them rendering their heads neckless.

Bouncing around in the sea, the man chasing after me roared out in fury as they swung fist after fist to attack me.

"Stop dodging you eel!"

"Don't you have any other insults you old slug!?"

Grinning, I felt my heart beat fiercely in my chest as cold sweat drenched my already drenched back.

Turning around, I twirled in the water before infusing my lef with malaise and kicking at the pillar sending its body crumbling down into the abyss where the fragments joined the rest of their brethren in the whirlpool.

On that note, the whirlpool had noticeably died down in intensity as the figure held within was vaguely seen.

Charging upwards to dodge the chain that whipped across underneath me, the rest of the mermen in the chains path were rendered into several bloody chunks that were also swept up into the whirlpool.

And since there was now so much debris covering the currents and making sight basically impossible in the whirlpool.

I couldn't tell what part was held in the whirlpool and what parts weren't.

I mean, I didn't even know if it was an animal or a structure in the first place!

And I probably wouldn't be able to if I kept procrastinating cause holy hell.

Feeling a chill crawl up from the base of my spine and send warning to my head like alarms blaring on into the night, I forcefully dragged my body upwards once again to dodge a fist.

And not the normal gun fist that was already dangerous enough as is.

But instead, an actual fist coated in gold that was currently making sure to destroy anything that it touched.

Hell! Since it was so close I could actually see that the punches were actually creating tiny air pockets.

And if anyone knew how water worked especially so deep underwater, then they would know that what this guy was doing was basically insanity.

On that note, I would say that I'm doing pretty well for someone dgoing against them.

"WHOA!"

Using a merman as a vaulting platform to dodge the very dangerous fist that drew a sliver of blood from my face, I watched as the pillar was destroyed by the fist.

"AHHHHGGGH!"

Roaring furiously, blood shot red eyes stared at me from beyond the mask as they readied up to send out another punch completely oblivious of the surroundings.

And not to sound like some sort of captain obvious but logic told me that things that only had one chain on them usually meant jack shit.

Especially if the one leashed onto the chain was something akin to a muscled up pitbull named princess cupcake.

Ironically enough, the names were direct opposites of their temperaments.

And I guess this particular pitbull was named Pretty Princess Fairy Unicorn Cupcake of Sugar and sparkles cause my God.

The pitbull was a monster.

I don't even think that the stereotype is a lie to be honest as my uncle's dog named Brutus was a unit that was incredibly friendly.

Sparkles on the other hand... If you think that biting could count as being friendly then I guess she was also pretty friendly.
