006: Destination

--Attention Please--

--KTX 101 bound for Busan is departing shortly--

The loudspeakers were announcing the departure of the train.

Knowing that the train would soon depart now, Levi started to finish up the work-related things with his laptop and put it back into his suitcase.

Some bad habits still lingered with him, like his paranoia about people possibly stealing his possessions. Especially with the baseball team of teenagers that he saw entering the train one or two wagons behind him.

So when no one was looking in his direction he also secretly let his suitcase disappear inside his inventory.

That would calm him down to not have to care for it and relax enough so that he could close his eyes.

It was still early in the morning after all and pretty much nighttime anyway. The train would take maybe an hour or so until they arrived at his destination in Busan.

Getting some shut-eye would counter his lack of sleep from all the work. Not that he needed the sleep with his endurance, but it still helped.

--Attention Please--

Soon after the train conductor let the message go through the speakers a few more times it was about time that the train moved.

When Levi finally closed his eyes he didn't notice the people outside still trying to enter the train in a panic.

Not even when those same people were jumped by others was noticed by him. Otherwise, he would have moved into action the very next second after seeing such a thing.

Yet he managed to enter a light slumber.

And for a few minutes, nothing really out of the ordinary happened. That is until some commotion started happening.

The people started shouting and getting rowdy, hitting his seat next to the walking path in the middle. Some even hit him rather hard and rattled him awake. And that brought him into a rather annoyed mood.

When he opened his eyes and looked to his left in annoyance, his pupils shrank to the size of a needle.

What his eyes caught in front of him could only jolt him awake and into a state of fear and shock that one would usually experience after some nightmare.

Just for a second, he stayed immobile, before his instincts kicked in.

He reacted and placed his arms in front of himself when a woman with white eyes and a bloodied mouth lunged at him and pressed him further into the seat.

Frowning deeply and looking at the growling and jaw-snapping individual in front of him took a second or two before his adrenaline started rushing through his body and gave him enough force to muster the strength to get a fixed grip on the woman's jaw and push her back.

Doing so brought them both standing in the middle of the walkway.

The infected still constantly tried to open her jaw and turn her head towards him. She even managed to shred some parts of the suit that he was wearing with her arms.

With that struggling Levi could imagine the strength needed that these things had. It was by no means weak since he also had a rather strong grip on her and still felt a slight strain to hold her firmly.

At least she could not use her teeth right now. But before he could relax a little and gain the upper hand a bunch of other individuals rushed past him and disturbed his footing. And suddenly other infected like the woman tackled him from the side to the ground.

Well, the more time went by, the more infected would appear.

Levi somehow managed to hold the woman and another bastard snapper by the throat with his hands and away from his face.

Yet with the panic around him and the other people getting ravaged and eaten there soon was another infected that had the luck to bite into his leg.

The pain flowing into him got him groaning and angered him.

Looking down along his body, some more rage welled up inside him when seeing the infected and his healthy foot blasted the head of the person that bit him with a powerful kick.

The person's head gave a crisp sound of his neck snapping and some of the flesh at its face looked like it was shredded apart.

At first, it looked like the Infected was dealt with the amount of damage, but it still convulsed and looked rather undead.

That only told Levi to hurry up more and he forcefully smashed both heads of the ones he grabbed together and mushed them into one, pushing them to the side after.

Quickly gaining footing he stood up. But he suddenly felt nauseous when trying to walk. The fact that more groaning and growling noises started to accumulate and tackle him brought him into an even greater rage.

He punched and pushed back everything that remotely tried to touch him. Not even another survivor was spared in the chaos.

At first he thought this chaos would just become worse but some teenagers with their baseball uniforms ran past him after smashing some of the infected with their bats.

That alone brought some time to the people retreating. Looking behind him he saw how there were still normal people fighting together with them but they were slowly retreating as well after starting to get overwhelmed.

Taking that chance as well he also charged off after avoiding any more of those rabid infected. His nausea still lingered but it became manageable.

At some point, while running to the back of another compartment wagon he saw a man trying to push one infected away.

It seemed the person had previously waited for a woman that came out of the toilet and together they were surprised by the chaos that had unfolded around them.

So Levi instantly reacted and helped with a well-delivered sidekick to the head of the biter.

That knocked that infected against the interior wall and down to the ground. Its body convulsed like before and this time it slowly stood back up.

"Move! To the back!" Levi shouted to the couple and gave a mighty stomp on the head of the downed biter.

The man saw this and figured the young kid had helped them so they started to retreat as well but the man could only move slowly because the woman in front of him was pregnant and could only move accordingly.

'Fuck me, you got to be kidding me!' Levi still felt enraged, not even giving a damn about the situation for now. At least the head was still the weak spot since the zombie that lay on the ground didn't move any longer.

Bad news, the infected behind them slowly grew larger in number after no survivors were left that could hinder their onslaught. - only joining their ranks.

The fact that someone closed a compartment sliding door in front of their faces didn't improve his mood in the slightest.

Luckily there was another such door behind them that closed off the compartment and toilet area.

So Levi went back quickly and closed the other door behind them.

The infected slammed right against it. Levi only grimaced holding the door and looking back to the others. It was obvious that they were now trapped between asshole survivors that left them for dead and the gnawing, hungry zombies.

At first, he wanted to open the door by destroying it and punch the person on the other side that was responsible for that but soon the door to the next compartment opened up on its own.

The pregnant woman and the man moved inside and Levi was last to follow after realizing he could let go of the door and slowly back up. Somehow the zombies didn't know how to open the door that he left alone.

Just when he entered the next compartment as well, another infected that broke through the toilet door at the side charged at them after seeing him.

Levi instantly closed the second door in his face.

"They instantly charged when they saw us...", someone said and the pregnant woman heard that and was quick in her thinking to get some newspapers from a seat. When she sprayed it in water to construct a screen on the glass between them the infected suddenly calmed down bashing itself against the glass that already had some cracks.

Those zombies apparently relied heavily on their eyesight. That is something Levi would take note off.

It was weird though because when analyzing them form afar most of them seemed to have lost any and all color in their iris. So how did they see?

"It became quiet.", Levi said after noticing the eerie silence with only the traintracks rumbling underneath their feet. A wave of relief traveled through everyone inside the compartment.

And Levi just walked past everyone to get further away from the infested wagon.

Sitting down he gritted his teeth. He felt a searing pain inside his leg and looked down at the location where his wound was. There was a big red bloody mark on his clothes.

Pulling up his jeans and slowly rubbing off the blood he saw that his leg was fine. No wound was seen anywhere. Yet he knew that there should be one. The pain was real enough.

That brought him a surprising realization that he seemed to have a very useful healing factor that he didn't know of yet.

But still, he was bitten. That fact remained.

And after finally having calmed down somewhat it hit his mind. He was sure that would not bode well for him.

His body had already started to feel sluggish and his temperature started increasing which would lead to a fever.

But what was even more annoying was that his mostly suppressed hunger which he managed to control normally started to go out of control again. And coupled with that came the pain all over his body.

He needed to find a solution to suppress it or he would become another monster eating everyone here. Not that he was even sure yet if he wouldn't turn into a zombie anyway.

Putting his focus back on the accident his mind was racing with many thoughts.

'What in the hell is going on? Wasn't I supposed to have still some time left?'

'Now comes a zombie apocalypse knocking on his door. And what made it worse was that these bastards were the fast and strong types of zombies.'

He started to think about his dilemma.

'At least they were not smart, but still annoying and deadly from their strength and speed.', he concluded after having that small tussle with them.

On one side he now knew what this world's demise was, but on the other, everything he did went somewhat down the drain in just a matter of seconds. He was in a foreign land with a deadly pandemic raging on. All the preparations seemed for naught.

Well, at least most. There were still all the things he had inside his dimensional space.

Still, his ability to see doomsday sure enough backfired royally. Did that ability malfunction or did he just rely too much on it?

Looking up at a screen that broadcasted the current news it looked like South Korea had a quickly growing problem called zombie outbreak. Suure enough the news already started covering the incidents.

They still tried to say that everything was under control. But that was unlikely.

If, and that was a big if, they managed doing it, then it would be a miracle. One that at least would prepare the rest of the world.

At least he hoped so. Some hope was now everything he could really ask for. Yet he felt with things like a zombie outbreak, people started to become stupid.

Cheers.
