"If our positions weren't at odds, I would really appreciate you," Grace Bradford 'Grace' was the first to break the silence.
"If you didn't have the blood of our people on your hands, I would appreciate you too."
These two sentences were enough to represent everything.
At that moment, Grace dropped the fact that she had let Kiara fall into the legal net, and Kiara didn't treat her as a villain.
"It always costs a woman a lot to make her way in the world. Many years ago, I was a blank slate too. I wanted to do a job I liked, have a stable family, support my parents, and educate my children. But things didn't go as I wished; I gave up an ordinary life and chose this path," she reflected.
Grace saw herself in Kiara, this girl who was so much like what she had been years ago, smart, wise, knowing exactly what she wanted, possessing abilities beyond ordinary people. Yet, ultimately, the two had chosen different paths, and that meant they would inevitably have different endings.
