Ch. 141: Mistress Steps Out

"Alright, girls. Mistress has officially stepped out, so we're going to have to work pretty hard to make sure that all the events she's anticipating come to pass from here on." Chelsea told the girls surrounding her as she watched the proceedings in Universe 7 via the Well.

"Chels... you say that, but isn't it pretty much all up to Shay and Goku at this point?" Riley couldn't help but wonder beside her, "We don't really have a part to play in the rest of the plan, you know."

Chelsea shrugged in response. "I suppose, but this is our cute little sister we're talking about. She can be a bit of an airhead, you know."

"Hey! I am not an airhead!" Shay protested from normal space.

"So you know what you're supposed to do next, then?" Chelsea chided.

"Du-uh. I'm on my way now, I just have to finish fixing the ground around Krillin so that he doesn't get crushed in the next few seconds. Geez, you're such a worrywart, big sis." Shay muttered.

"Am I wrong to worry, with your track record?" Chelsea scored a critical hit.

"Tch." Ignoring the question, Shay decided to change the subject, "How's Mistress? Is Operation New Saiyan going well?" With how busy Shay was going to be over the course of Mistress's death, Mistress would yell at her for dereliction of duty if she actually divided her attention and checked on her, so she asked Chelsea instead.

"Naturally, It's Mistress. The Grand Minister contacted me earlier and told me that he dropped a note into Mistress's otherworld file for cases like this, telling the judges to let her do whatever she wanted if she died. He was concerned that we'd destroy the spatial anchoring stations connecting the regular universe to otherworld if they got on her bad side for some reason." Chelsea explained.

At that, Shay shrugged, "Guess everyone who takes direct care of an absolute being's home is a worrywart, huh?"

"Whatever, little sis. You better get going. Goku's rage over Mistress's death is far higher than Mistress predicted it would be, so we're thinking that Frieza's going to try destroying the planet in the next minute or two." Chelsea noted, "She really doesn't believe in love, huh...?"

"That's why we're here! But you're right. I put a patch on the ground to force it apart for a little while, but you might want to leave a well-portal open near Krillin just in case, because it's a really lazy patch. On my way now." Without a single glance back at the closing ground beneath her, Shay teleported away from Namek using the Core's version of Instant Transmission.

"And this is why she's a huge airhead. Riley, do you mind? Out of all the girls here, you've studied geography the most. Mistress'll be mad if we let Krillin die so stupidly after she stepped out to save his life." Chelsea muttered as Shay's patch began to fail. The dragon had miscalculated the pressure that she needed her seal on the ground to be able to take, so when Goku'd opened up another patch of lava to drop Frieza into, Shay's patch had begun to fall away.

"Yeah, sure." Opening another well, Riley began to put her divine power into stopping the planet from swallowing Krillin. It was kind of like walking on a tightrope, though. Too much power, and it was entirely possible that the fighters left on Namek would be able to sense it, while too little power wouldn't save the bald human, and they couldn't just cover him with a divine barrier, because he was still conscious and would notice the rocks not moving around him in response to the explosions of power above. Instead, Riley had to add density to the rocks around him, turning them into a sort-of makeshift barrier of their own. It was painstaking work, but Riley'd studied the geography of the Core Planets, and this was nothing compared to that weirdness.

...

"So, King Kai, you're saying that Hanna's dead and there's nothing that I can do about it?" When Shay teleported in, Pigero was asking King Kai a question. His energy was clouding the air, swirling with his rage.

"I'm sorry, Pigero, but you're even deader than she is. We can't interfere in the events down there, it's the rules." King Kai was telling him, but Pigero was too angry to care.

"Who cares about your rules!? Tell me how to get back to the living world! There has to be some way! I'll go, put that Frieza in the ground, then come back here and do it again!" Pigero shouted, but King Kai eyed him, shaking his head.

"You should calm down. Even if you did go back to the living world right now, you couldn't do anything useful there. Seeing his daughter die clearly triggered something in Goku... some sort of transformation that I've never seen before in a Saiyan. He's absolutely destroying Frieza right now. By the time you got there, Frieza would already be dead, and you'd have wasted an incredibly costly trip to the living world." King Kai explained to him, causing Pigero to calm down a bit.

"Wait, you're saying that it's actually possible to go down to the living world as a dead guy?!" Yamcha asked.

"WELL OF COURSE IT'S POSSIBLE, YOU IDIOT." King Kai shouted at his student, "But you only get one, maybe two days maximum per century. On top of that, it's only possible if your soul itself is called down by a living spirit medium. They're pretty rare, you know. There aren't any of them on Namek, so you'd have to be revived-"

"On Earth, by Fortuneteller Baba." Yamcha realized. He knew that she could interact with the dead and revive them, but he hadn't realized that she could do it without forming a contract and having them defend her shop.

But Pigero'd already lost interest when he'd realized that he couldn't be revived on Namek. Something else had caught his attention. "So what did you mean when you said Goku transformed?"
