"You are accusing your mother?" her eyes narrowed and she scowled with a warning look but he just shrugged and stood there, challenging her to prove him wrong. "Very well, go and inform yourself. And if he loses his composure after that, deal with it yourself too. I will not come to your aid when you insult me with your petty remarks." she hissed, making him guilty at once.

He licked his dry lips, trying to find the reason. But he failed. Why was he on edge? Why does it matter if Bella was lost? It had nothing to do with him but Rafael. He should be the one hopping mad. But the thought of no one looking for her unnerved him. He ignored his mother and left to meet Rafael, surprising her again and warning her that something was wrong. Damien never goes against her when she warns him.
