Chapter 30 - Awakened Contract?

"Woah, analyze, what are you trying to do?" said Darius moving his arm away from Yorick.

Darius didn't want this man to touch and know more about his name, what if he went around telling people about it?

Darius didn't even know him, he couldn't risk it.

"Do you want me to help you or not?" asked Yorick with a little smile.

"You know I've seen a lot of people like protective of their system's name or rank, but just so you know I don't care. Look at me, do I look like I care about many things," exclaimed Yorick, pointing at himself.

'Yeah, but who knows if you find my system interesting, just like you found me interesting?' thought Darius, still not wanting the man in front of him to "analyze" his system.

"What do you mean by analyzing?" asked Darius as he gave a complicated look toward Ashe, letting her know that he wasn't sure if he wanted to go through with this.

Before accepting anything, Darius needed to know what the man in front of him would learn.

Darius was almost sure by now that his system was different from those who had a Supreme System as the rank of his system wasn't even Supreme, it was hidden by some question marks.

"Well, you know I'll be able to see everything that you see when you open your status," said Yorick, nonchalantly as if that was absolutely nothing.

However, Darius who had just heard this was panicking, how could someone even do something like this?

"Then, no. I refuse, I don't need your help, I'll find something else," said Darius standing up and making sure that Yorick wouldn't be able to touch him at all.

Yorick seeing this was even more interested in what that little man in front of him was hiding. This caused him to really want to know what Darius's Status looked like.

"Darius, there's no other way to fix your problem other than Yorick, he's the only one who can modify someone's status," exclaimed Ashe, seeing that Darius had instantly refused.

She knew that he didn't want others to learn about him which is why she was trying to convince him to stay.

"Young man, sit back down, I can propose you something if you aren't sure whether or not I'm trustworthy," said Yorick, still with a smile on his dirty face.

Darius didn't know why but Yorick's crooked teeth didn't inspire him at that much.

But, still, he sat back down interested in what he would propose to him.

Because the only way that Darius would accept anything was if there was something that made Yorick unable to talk about whatever he would be seeing.

That was literally the only as he didn't want the word to spread that he could steal life. If people were to learn that, they would probably try to get away from him as much as possible.

"I see that you think that you're really important, right?"

'Of course, I am, there are so many weird things about my system,' thought Darius.

However, he decided to stay humble when speaking up.

"I don't think so, but go on."

Yorick hearing Darius's answer, scuffed as he continued with his proposition.

"Since you don't want your information to spread, I could do one thing which would assure that."

Darius's interest was immediately spiked after hearing that because that would basically solve his problem.

To be honest, Darius didn't care all that much about Yorick knowing, he cared about whether or not he would tell others.

That was basically the same thing with Ashe, he was scared that she would spread his information which is why he hadn't told her anything.

But, if there was a way to counter any sort of information spreading, then he probably would have told Ashe already as Darius started to find her more and more trustworthy over the days that they had passed together.

"What is it?" asked Darius as he noticed that Yorick had stopped speaking.

"Wait here," said Yorick as he stood up from the table and headed toward the trash that was right behind him.

"Where did I leave it? It must be around here."

As he said that he started moving around the trash in front of him as he was probably in search of an item.

While he was doing that, Darius got closer to Ashe whispering in her ear.

"Do you know what he's talking about?"

However, Ashe stayed silent indicating to look at Yorick as he would tell him soon enough, it didn't matter if she told him now.

"Ah! There it is," exclaimed Yorick as he had some dirty piece of paper in his hands.

"That right there is the solution to our little problem, a contract."

'A contract, how am I going to trust a contract? There's so many people breaking contracts, it's only a piece of paper,' thought Darius, unsure if this would do the trick anymore.

"Ahaha, look at your face. Don't worry this isn't your usual piece of paper, it's much more than that," said Yorick with a big smile on his face, still with his crooked teeth.

"Do you recognize it, Ashe?" said Yorick.

Ashe still didn't talk only nodding as she didn't want Yorick to talk to her at all, she just found it annoying.

"Whatever, that right here is an Awakened Contract. You might be wondering what it can do. Well, it's simple it can create unbreakable contracts between two people."

"Basically if one were to break the contract they would die. Poof!" said Yorick, as he made signs with his hands of someone disappearing.

Darius hearing this was kind of shocked, however, he knew that this piece of paper right there really would be able to solve his problem.

"How does it work?" asked Darius, interested.

"Well, it's simple we say the terms of the contract while holding it out loud and then boom, it's created!"

"Alright let's do it," said Darius as he slowly approached that piece of paper, grabbing hold of it.
