A place filled with scammers

"Lior... Are you sure I can really use this money?"

-I am. My Master allowed it himself.

"Didn't you say he only asked you to take the money pouch with you?"

-Yeah? That's the meaning behind those words. Why would I take a money pouch with me if I'm not allowed to spend any of it? Think Alaric, think!

That tone sounded kind of... mean... But Alaric didn't point it out.

"That makes sense..." Alaric's fingers grazed the smooth texture of the notebook in front of his face, analyzing its material and thickness during that brief touch. "But these things are too expensive..."

Reading each price tag took away one year of his lifespan. This city was one of the largest ones in the area, and it wasn't even that hard to access, so he really didn't expect the prices to be so high. 

'Maybe the shopkeeper is a profiteer or something...'

But he couldn't be sure since he had no price reference for these items.
