Mu Zigu was surprised by his wife's words. From what he observed earlier, Lu Jueyu and Li Chenmo were young and capable of having their own children, so adopting children without necessity indicated compassion.

"They are that kind?" he asked, still in disbelief.

Understanding his reaction, Xiao Yiqing thought it was natural, as she too found it hard to believe at first. She had learned from Mu Yiqing about the harshness of their era when her body was still taken over by that foreign soul.
