Her real identity (1)

As she looked herself in the oval shaped mirror, Jade's hand moved to her neck and she held the crystal blue pendant that was on her chest. Whenever she held it, memories of her father would flock in her mind and it would feel as if he was still there with her. "Your mother had always wished to have a daughter. and when she gave birth to you, she personally made this for you." She recalled her father's words with a bitter smile as she blinked quickly to prevent the tears that threatened to come out.

Her thoughts were disrupted by a click on the door and she turned around to face the king who walked in without knocking.

Jade was a true beauty and Alvin looked at her with admiration while drinking in her appearance. His eyes moved from her eyes to her well defined nose and lingered on her full pink lips. His full attention on her made Jade's palms sweaty but he did not stop there. He lowered his eyes to looked at her exposed slender neck and he moved closer to her without taking up her space. The silver pendant that rested on her neck intrigued him because he had seen an exact pendant that was always worn by Gloria.

The crystal blue stone that was on her chest was a charm stone but he did not know whether it was a fake one. "You also believe in charm stones ." He said with a hum and his statement confused Jade. "Most people believe that a charm stone can keep them away from bad lack." He added after a short silence. "Maybe I have been having bad lack because I have not been wearing it for the last few days." She thought out loud which made Alvin smile. "One day you will consider me as the luckiest thing that ever happened to you." He said but Jade could not agree with his words.

Alvin was a person who loved to confirm his suspicions on time and the charm stone that Jade had was something out of this world and to confirm his doubts he raised his hand and held the stone that was on jade's chest. For the first few seconds nothing happened but when he was about to let go, the stone started to glow causing Alvin's hand to burn and when he released it, he started to cough blood. Jade who never expected such a thing to happen tried to move closer to the king who was coughing a lot of blood but he stopped her. "Don't."

"Where did you get it?" He asked, referring to the pendant that Jade was busy removing. "It was a gift from my father." Came her quick answer. "I should go ask for help." Jade continued but Alvin who was looking for a place to sit didn't let her. "There's no need. I will be fine." He assured her but Jade did not listen to him. If something would happen to the king, she would be killed and she was not ready for that. "Your highness, you are losing a lot of....." " Jade, don't step out of this room." He interrupted her and even though he was in pain, he acted as if he was totally fine.

"So, your father bought it for you? It must have costed him a fortune." He continued interrogating her. "My mother was the one who got it for me." When she said those words,Alvin raised his head to look at her. It seemed like his doubts might be true after all.

"Is your mother still alive?"

"No. Why are you asking me all these questions anyway?" She asked with a tone of annoyance. The topic was sensitive to her and she never liked to discuss it with anyone because the wounds were still fresh in her young heart.

"It's because I might have some answers to your questions too." His tone was now serious as he wiped blood from his mouth. "I don't have any questions." Jade who had removed the chain said but her face told otherwise. Alvin who had stopped sputtering blood stood up from the armchair and walked towards Jade who still held the silver pendant loosely with her left hand.

When Alvin moved closer to her, Jade carelessly put the pendant on the table and looked at him cousciously. His height towered over her shorter structure but he did not look as intimidating as he usually did. He took her hand that rested at the table behind her, and clasped it with his own large hand. His eyes did not leave hers even for a second. "Close your eyes and tell me what you see." As if he had control over her, Jade closed her eyes just as he told her only to find herself at the seashore a little bit far away from from a man and a woman who held a newly born baby in her arms.

"She has your eyes Gloria." The man said, who was none other but her father. "Let's get you somewhere comfortable to rest." The man said while getting up. "Jade would be a beautiful name for her." The woman said as he looked at the baby and then raised her head to look at the man. " Can we stay here for a while. I would like to watch the sunset." The woman asked.

"The night is about to approach Gloria. Maybe we should do this some other time. Came the man's words. "Jack, would you get vervain for me." Please" She added when she saw that the man was not willing to leave them there. "Okay then. but don't leave this place until I'm back." With those words, the man disappeared like a phantom. Before Jade could see anything else, Alvin released her hand and she finally opened her eyes.

"My father.....h_ he has an ability like yours." She said. Shock and disbelief were evident in her eyes as she walked past Alvin. When she turned to look at Alvin he said. "That is your past. I can only show it to you but I can't see it."
