After crying my eyes out for a while, I decided I shouldn't be wasting time dwelling on humiliating events but rather go out and find a job. The sooner I got a job, the sooner I'd be able to get out of that shared apartment and get one for myself.
I snuck out of the house and luckily, I didn't bump into Baek-Hyun. God only knows how I would've reacted if I saw him after what he has done to me.
'Let's not dwell on that.'
I vigorously went around looking for a job but I had a serious problem. It was either I disliked the working environment, the boss or the people who worked there.
Why couldn't I just bear with it like others did? I went from place to place until I felt I couldn't walk anymore. Then it hit me, I hadn't eaten since the morning.
"This is all Baek-Hyun's fault! How could he do that to me? I knew he hated me but to go so far and humiliate me? It was too much!" I kept rambling and cursing out as I walked into the noodle shop.
All I had on me was only able to afford a bowl of noodles and the bus fee. I was living such a hard life.
I let out a sigh and watched a couple walk in. They were an Alpha and Omega couple and they looked happy.
The thrill I once used to have when seeing two guys holding hands suddenly faded. I couldn't feel it and was rather sad.
"Let's not think about that." I shook my head and started slurping my noodles gradually.
Then, I received a phone call. It was Woo-Bin. My blood immediately started boiling and I answered that call.
"You… what is the meaning of what you sent me?" I asked, yelling at the top of my voice and attracting unnecessary attention. "Hold on!"
I went to the restroom and placed my phone over my ear.
"Woo-Bin, why did you play such a prank on me?" I asked, my head a bit cooler than earlier.
"It wasn't a prank. I honestly sent it for your own good." He said but I clenched my fists. "Have you tried it yet? Or was it too hard?"
"Woo-Bin, is that how you look at me?" I asked, feeling teary. "Do you think I would suddenly jump on Baek-Hyun while you're away? Do you think of me as someone who would steal another person's boyfriend?"
I sounded hurt and tears gradually slid down my cheek.
"Sun-bae, who said Baek-Hyun and I are dating?" His words suddenly struck me.
"What?"
"Sun-bae, did you by chance see us, you know… "
"It wasn't my intention, I swear. I only saw you by chance and, and… "
"And you concluded we were dating?" He started laughing. "Wow, Sun-bae, you're still as naive and gullible as I remember."
"But but… "
It was clear that Baek-Hyun had feelings for him so why was he acting like he was oblivious to that fact? Were they really friends with benefits?
"But still, that doesn't mean I want to jump him." I said. "You sent such a thing as if you were a hundred percent sure I would use it? I'm not a horny bastard!"
"Of course you aren't, Sun-bae! But it's not the same for Baek-Hyun." He said, making me a bit confused.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Oh, I don't know. Did you consider the fact that Baek-Hyun might like you?"
"What? That's impossible!"
"I know right?" A little silence followed as I heard him talking to someone on the other side. "I've got to go, Sun-bae."
"Wait, explain clearly what you meant by that."
"Sorry, I think you'll have to find out the rest on your own." With that, he cut the call.
I was absolutely speechless. What did he mean Baek-Hyun had feelings for me? If anything, it was clear that Baek-Hyun had feelings for Woo-Bin. I saw it everyday.
He practically glared holes into my head just to warn me to stay away from… Wait, those were glares, weren't they?
I shook my head. I had to stop thinking over exaggerating thoughts. There was no way.
Besides, there was no way I would easily forgive him for what he did to me.
I lost my appetite to continue eating my noodles and so I left the restaurant after paying up the bills.
Though I said I wouldn't think about it, I ended up thinking the whole way back home.
Baek-Hyun… why did he like me?
No, that was impossible. Like I said, I wouldn't over exaggerate anymore.
The moment I opened the door, I found a worried Baek-Hyun, who was just about to head out.
"Hyung!" He called and my eyes shut open. What did he just call me? "Where were you? I was worried!"
"You… " I shook my head and just walked past him. "Get out of my way." I said but he grabbed my hand.
"Hey, where were you?" He asked and I turned, spiteful.
"Why should I tell you that?" I asked, glaring at him.
"You… you're staying under this roof so you have to at least let me know when you'll be back if you ever want to come back." He said and my eyes twitched.
"I got it!" I flung my hand from his grip.
Like me, my foot! There was no way he liked me. If anything, he wanted to control me simply because I was a weak and poor beta living under his roof.
"You don't have to remind me that I'm practically freeloading off you. I'll find a job soon and then, I'll pay the rent. When I have enough money, I'll leave your sight as well, so you won't have to bother me evading your space."
"Wait, that's not… "
"Forget about it." I ignored his desperate expression and went back to my room. I took off my coat and beanie and went out to make dinner.
He was still standing there like he had seen a ghost but I ignored him and went to make dinner. Whatever he had in his mind could stay there for all I cared. I just had to do my part and do the chores.
