Encountering A Monster

Almost half an hour passed, yet we still kept on flying downward.

"How high is this place anyway?" I asked, surveying the beautiful scenery, which enlightened me.

Several islands had waterfalls that streamed down, leaving the water to disperse as the wind blew it away.

Different creatures could also be seen standing on each island we passed, as if the islands were their habitats.

"I told you, this place is the highest among the highest within the living realm. The floating islands." Greyskim said, praising the otherworldly place we're currently at.

Just then, Greyskim stopped and turned around, flying towards an island beyond our east direction.

"Huh? Where are we going?" I asked, wondering why he suddenly stopped flying downward.

"There are some restrictions that inferior beings with low mana capacity cannot pass through beyond here." he said, and we landed safely on the island we just went to.

"Restrictions?"

"Yes, I could barely sense a quarter of my mana energy within you. So first you must train and enlarge your mana capacity in order to pass through."

"Eh? Was there such a thing? How should I train, though? Care to explain?"

"Do I have to tell you everything? Just get off me and survive until you see that blue translucent barrier disappear." Greyskim said, bending over his body to force me to get off of him.

I then looked below, standing at the end of the cliff of the island, witnessing the blue barrier that somehow could be seen beneath.

"So that's the restriction?" I said, and just as I turned around, Greyskim was gone.

"Eh?"

Without making a single sound, his entirety disappeared as if he were never there to begin with.

"He totally left me alone on this island."

Well, loathing him now would be meaningless; I should stay calm. There are several chained rocks leading downwards, but first I need to increase my mana energy, he said. But how will I do that?" I wondered, pondering a way to increase my mana energy.

How do I open my status? I'm sure there was a keyword for it.

"Was it status?"

[Displaying Status]

A glimmering light shined in front of me as it began to brighten, forming into a holographic tabloid that produced and wrote my current status.

[Status Display]

Hmm, my mana energy is at 500, and I remember Greyskim's being at over 7,000. What is the exact required mana energy to pass through that blue barrier?" I wondered, rummaging through my thoughts as it began hurting.

"Should I increase my level? Will it also increase my mana energy? But how can I increase my level? There were no hints on how to increase my level after my status got established by this strange system. Is this system capable of communicating? I'd wish it gave me some hints on how to increase my level." I mumbled, letting out a long sigh as I felt helpless in the middle of a deserted floating island.

Just then, a large beast appeared beyond me as trees began shaking while a slight tremor occurred, shaking the entire island as it took its steps closer towards my location.

"Huh? What's that?"

A large horned rabbit that was over fifteen meters tall in height and almost ten meters long in width. It had white, fluffy fur that covered its entire body. But the horn on its forehead was somehow bothering me as it shone brightly against the sunlight. And it was undeniably sharp based on its shape, while the rabbit's red eyes were a bit piercing as it glared intently at me.

"Shit, what kind of rabbit is this? It's huge."

[Analyzing...]

[Analysis Complete: Displaying Data]

[Monster Type: Horned Rabbit]

[Level: 1,500]

[Rank: S]

[Monster Trait: Agile and Aggressive]

"Fuck."

Realizing that it was 1,500 times higher than my level made me gulp in despair.

The horned rabbit began twitching its head as it stared at me, slowly moving its body as if it were waiting to pounce on its prey.

"How am I going to kill that shit? I think bullets won't be able to penetrate. Summon Gun!"

Light appeared as it formed into a stock M4A1, the same Gun that had appeared before the first time I used my skill.

Despite having unlimited bullets, I'm sure this thing won't be able to penetrate through that huge, fluffy beast. Since I was back on earth, when I played videogames in my spare time when I was younger, Level gaps were a bit of a hassle to overcome. It's basically the law, and I'm sure I'll die at this rate.

Just as the rabbit took his first step, I instantly raised my gun and aimed at it, hoping it would stop and turn around.

Please get scared of my gun." I mumbled in my head, praying that the horned rabbit would turn around and leave me.

But despite the prayers I'd mumbled, they had no effect; the monster was still approaching me at a slow pace.

Without thinking anymore, I fired, holding the trigger as bullets rapidly came out of the muzzle and continuous gunshot sounds occurred.

The horned rabbit that got hit by the bullets instantly sidestepped as it evaded the bullets that came out of my gun.

Its agility was nowhere near common sense; It absolutely exceeded my knowledge about speed. But in spite of its horrifying speed, my eyes were able to catch up, and it shocked me.

With unlimited ammo as it reloaded itself with a motionless reload skill, I continuously fired at the moving horned rabbit without hesitation. Trying to catch its movements as it moved sideways like a flexible cat dodging a snake.

"My eyes could clearly see its movements, yet it somehow felt so fast, but thanks to it, I can fend off this giant beast."

Well, just as I felt a bit glad, the horned rabbit's speed increased as it disappeared in front of me.

Forcing me to aim around, searching for it.

*Wham!*

Its tail whipped me from behind, causing my body to roll over a lot of times and making me crash on to a hard, tall tree.

My body felt stiff, but the pain was nowhere near what the impact caused. It felt like an ant just bit me; just by seeing its size, I'm sure its strength was abnormally powerful.

But how? How did it feel like nothing? I just got hit by its tail and was sent flying over a tree that somewhat made a carving out of me, and yet I don't feel immense pain from the impact.

Just then, I remembered that I had passive skills, of which "Pain Nullification" was part. So this is how it takes effect, huh? I guess it's truly helpful.

*Wham!*

Another tail whip sent me flying further beyond the island as I rolled continuously and stumbled on bushes.

"I forgot that I was fighting and somehow got careless." I mumbled, wiping off the fallen leaves around my body along with the dust.

But again, the pain was tremendously reduced by an ant bite.

But even so, I'm going to die at this rate if I keep on getting hit by that huge monster.

The horned rabbit was fast approaching, so I aimed my gun at it and fired.

The rabbit once again evaded me like it was nothing as it rushed towards me at full speed.

"Why does it move so quickly!? Please stay put, you monster!"

Shooting at it was so hard, but my eyes could clearly see its entity along with its swift movements, and then I realized that its white fluffy fur began turning red at some parts of its body.

"Did I somehow shoot it? Did my bullets hurt him?"

The inferiority I felt due to the level gap disappeared in an instant.

"It seems I can kill you even when I'm just a level 1. Kuku!" I said with a malicious grin on my face as I kept shooting at the moving horned rabbit nonstop.
