Titles

Adam was early to rise out of his bed. He used to be one who slept in whenever possible, but that was on Earth. While there were interesting novels, standing, and taking in the scenery is night and day when one is actually in a fantasy world compared to just imagining it.

Casting a gaze out the window, he saw the beautiful dawn beaming in, which energized him, and helped him cement the fact that he was really in another world, living in a castle at that.

He took in the sight for a moment longer before sitting down on his bed, he decided to examine his status prior to heading over to wherever the test would be held.\

Having slept for several hours, his stockpiled experience was an appealing visage when it appeared in his line of sight.

Not seeing anything different, as he had a period of time alone, he looked at the details of his titles and skills, a surprise discovery, after he fiddled with his status.

First were his Titles: Otherworlder and Hero whose details appeared when he thought of them.

[Otherworlder: A title given to people who get to a world excluding their own. +1 SP/Level]

[Hero: A title for brave & just souls whose duty deigned by royalty or divine in leading the defense of the weak and innocent & in combating dangers such as demons. 200% more XP.]

For his skills, their details emerged thereafter:

[Translation: Passively, provides the ability to communicate verbally and understand languages unknown to the individual that are common.]

[Passive Experience: The unique skill of Adam Wildeblood that perpetually, and automatically grants a small amount of experience every few seconds. Stacks with experience boosts.]

Examining the information provided by the system, he had a better idea of the functions of his present skills and the limits to his capabilities.

Adam paused to consider whether he should level up or wait till he gets a baseline understanding of the influence of his stats.

Deciding to hold off till the end of the day after the test, he sought out directions via one of the servants. Rather than wander aimlessly, it is best to talk to people who are most informed that work there.

Thankfully, there were indeed servants standing watch, which he was able to get an idea of where to go. He and the rest of the heroes, barring the two who chose to not take up the mantle of hero would be assembling at the training field.

It took several minutes, but he finally arrived there.

It would take some getting used to but, he should be fine in navigating the halls of the castle in barely any time.

Propped out of the training field's ground were burlap training dummies, that very much resembled faceless scarecrows. The training dummies were all lined up in the field, that was carefully sectioned off, with stone paths that lead into and out of the castles areas entrances that were upheld by stone columns.

In their proximity were a few people that appeared to be a trained combatant based on their physique and sword that was holstered at their waist.

Near to them, not particularly surprising was one of the heroes, this being the young woman who was wearing the pink hoodie.

Where on closer observation, she looked like they had not had the most restful sleep. It was likely the case of a depressing stream of thought that made a person continuously more anxious the more it was dwelled on. Suddenly arriving in another world does that.

Walking near to them, Adam waved over to the woman in the hoodie who nodded at the sight. Keeping her hands in her pockets, she maintained her direction that was facing Adam.

Adam asked: "Feeling up for whatever test they have planned for us?"

Grasping for certainty, she inquired: "Adam, right?" Her eyes looking at Adam from top to bottom. The slightest of frowns crossed her face, when she eyed Adam's sizeable stomach.

"Yes." The corresponding memory of her introduction crawling out of his memories of yesterday's dinner.

"Elaina is your name, if i'm not mistaken." Adam recollected.

Answering more sincerely, she replied: "Yeah. It is good to meet you and see another human from Earth out here. It is going to take adjusting to settle into this world."

Adam purported: "Should be mostly adapted in a few months, at most."

Relaxing, Elaina commented unconfidently: "Maybe, and still not certain that we can do what was requested to us by the King. Taking down that Demon King doesn't sound like something a few people can resolve that the Kingdom is unable to fix despite all the people and resources that seem to be involved."

Pondering her words, Adam replied: "We should be good, provided we prepare like crazy, we should at least escape with our lives if the situation with the Demon King goes south."

Hesitance lurking in her voice, she shrugged but slightly more chipper as she commented: "I suppose."

Uncertainty loitered in her eyes, she asked: "So there is a test?"

Thinking on it, Adam responded: "Yeah, it is not unlikely that there is going to be a fitness test. So as to see where we place, before deciding on our specialties that we show the most promise."

Adam's thoughts wandering. 'I doubt that they would risk letting untrained, and misdirected heroes leave the boundaries of the castle let alone fight the King of Demons. The most productive outcome is to foster heroes growth by their greatest aptitude.'

Elaina noted. "Um, alright." Digesting his words, she stepped closer to the seeming-instructors, less perplexed.

While Adam decided to stand in place as he waited for the training to be initiated.

After several minutes of waiting, the heroes gathered at the training field.

One of the trained combatants who stood closer, that possessed blonde hair, that was next to the training dummies began speaking.

"Hello, we are knights of this kingdom and are tasked with helping you grow into the title of heroes. Today is the day I, Areis, and the rest of these fine knights will determine the path you shall be instructed in by testing how you fair under stress and other conditions."

His arms resting on his hips, Areis continued talking: "Give an earnest effort, for the duty you will have to uphold was bestowed directly by the King. In the spirit of earnest effort, we shall start by testing everyone's endurance."

Hearing this, Adam slightly regretted not leveling up. Nevertheless, he wasn't scared of a little running.
