The date was September 2nd, 1990 and it was the first official day for the students of Hogwarts, although, due to it being a Sunday the students would only start their lessons tomorrow. This allowed the students to explore the magical castle, especially the freshman who had only just entered Hogwarts the day before.
"Well, time to start the day," said Jiho aloud, albeit, quietly as both his roommates were fast asleep.
As Jiho got up he quietly left the dormitory and started his way to the Great Hall for breakfast when he came across a familiar face.
"Hey, Jiho!"
"Oh, Cho, Good morning,"
"Good morning, you wanna go get breakfast together?" Asked Cho as she caught up to Jiho.
"Sure, why not." Like that, they were off as they made their way to the Great Hall.
"So, how's Gryffindor?" Asked Cho as she sat down with her full English breakfast,
"It's good, I made a few friends," replied Jiho as he thought of both Claude and Dimitri, chuckling a little as he thought of their antics.
"That's good, but I kinda wish you were in Ravenclaw," said Cho with a little disappointment in her voice.
"I told you during the Selection Ceremony, it doesn't matter were gonna see each other during classes anyways," said Jiho as he smiled gently at Cho's disappointment.
"Yeah, but still, it would've been fun."
Time passed as the two continued to talk even after they had finished their meal.
"Anyways, I'm going to go to the library wanna come with me?" Asked Jiho as he got up to put away his plate.
"No, sorry, I promised to meet with a few friends,"
"It's fine, see you later," said Jiho as he left the Great Hall, trying to find his way to the Library, however, it wouldn't be long before he was assaulted by a certain green-eyed individual.
"Jiho, I didn't think of you as such a playboy, already flirting with a girl on day one."
"Claude, good morning, and I wasn't flirting, she's just a friend I made during the train ride," said Jiho as he simultaneously greeted Claude and defended himself.
"Suuuuuuuuuuure, that's how it always starts," said Claude with a wide smile as he continued teasing Jiho.
"Yeah, yeah, anyways, where's Dimitri?" Asked Jiho quickly moving the conversation onto a different topic.
"Dimitri? He's probably coming down right now, he takes a little longer cause he has to make sure his bed is in perfect shape." Replied Claude, "Oh, there he is,"
Dimitri quickly walked over and sat next to Claude before he started to once again nag at him.
"Claude, you should really make a habit of making your bed every morning, it creates good discipline and what are you gonna do if I'm not there to do it for you."
"Why wouldn't you be?" said Claude with a smile, "if you go somewhere else I'll just follow you around, and knowing you, you'll have to make the bed for me."
"Well-, sure but-, uh-, AUGH! Your so annoying!" screamed Dimitri as he couldn't come up with a comeback, however, he soon hid his face in embarrassment as the other students stared at him due to his outburst.
"I hate you," whispered Dimitri as he covered his red face.
"Yeah, yeah," said Claude patting him on the head.
"You guys are hilarious," said Jiho as he laughed at the duo's morning antics, "anyways, what are you guys gonna do today?
"Well, we were thinking of just looking around and seeing what classes we had for today." Replied Claude.
"Yes, I thought it was a good idea to prepare ahead of time for the classes while Claude just wanted to explore the castle," added Dimitri as he recovered from his embarrassment.
"What about you?"
"I'm gonna go to the Library for a bit, if you need anything, you can just find me there, bye."
"Ok, see you later."
Like that, the Trio parted and went their own ways as Jiho made his way upstairs finally finding the library.
'Finally, I'm here,' thought Jiho as he caught his breath and entered. As soon as he entered he was greeted by a old lady who seemed to be the librarian.
"First year?" asked the librarian.
"Yeah."
"Ok, well, my name is Madam Pince and I am the librarian here," said Madam Pince introducing herself, "There are a few rules in this library, first of all, all books can only be borrowed after my permission, second, the forbidden section is not allowed to be entered without a permission slip, and finally you cannot take books outside of the school grounds. You get all of that?
"Yes," said Jiho with a smile, excited to look at all the books.
"Well then, you may go explore the library," said Madam Pince quickly going back to her desk.
Finally being allowed to explore Jiho quickly started going around the library looking at the different sections, each full of hundreds of books.
"What should I start with?" Though Jiho aloud, after all, there were thousands of books to choose from.
"I'll start with the books on the classes I have," said Jiho finally coming to a conclusion, "So that would be, Transfiguration, Charms, Potions, History of Magic, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Astronomy and Herbology. Quite a lot, well let's get to it." And like that time passed as Jiho read a book or two on each subject, a book on alchemy especially caught his eye as it talked about a certain figure.
"Nicolas Flamel, what an interesting figure." Said Jiho as he read the book on alchemy, "What an interesting figure, anyways on to the next book.
Jiho spent hours in the library, however, his session was soon interrupted.
"Hey Jiho, Professor McGonagall wants everyone in the common room, come on," shouted Claude as he approached Jiho.
"Shush," said Madam Pince in a whisper shout, "this is a library, not a club, if you want to shout, go outside."
"Sorry," whispered Claude sheepishly, "let's go Jiho."
"Ok, I'm coming now."
The two quickly made their way back to the common room where McGonagall was waiting for them.
"Now that all the first years are here, I will introduce myself. My name is Professor McGonagall and I am the transfiguration teacher here at Hogwarts." Said McGonagall with a small smile, "However, to all of you, I am also the head of house for Gryffindor. I hope that all of you will help the house and try your best to win the house cup. Remember we are Gryffindor, we represent courage and bravery, so keep your head held high and show the pride of Gryffindor."
"Yes Ma'am!" Said the first years in unison, hyped up by the speech.
"You'll find your schedule right over there in the box, so pick one up right now or in the morning, and remember to get a lot of sleep as tomorrow will be your first day of lessons. Now disperse and go get some sleep."
Like that the students lined up to see their schedules.
"Potions first thing in the morning, what fun," said Claude with a tired expression, "I heard Snape is extra mean to Gryffindor, how lucky we are."
"Don't complain so much Claude, it's not that bad," said Dimitri as he rolled his eyes at Claude's constant groaning.
"I'm actually excited," said Jiho as he smiled while looking at the schedule.
"You can't be serious," said Claude as he looked at Jiho in disbelief.
"Well, let's get some sleep, we have a long day ahead of us tomorrow," said Dimitri as he dragged both Claude and Jiho to the dormitory, as the trio, each with different emotions toward the next day fell asleep.
