Moving day

Bella's POV

"Bella hurry up already, the moving company will be here soon." Mom yelled.

Dad got transferred to New Orleans and so we had to move which was definitely not the most exciting thing for me right now. I had just finished high school and already had plans of going to the same university as my best friend Jenny only for dad to drop the news on us like it was already decided and made final, like how could he, don't I have a say in my own live. Ugh

I took the last box of my stuff out to the sitting room where George was playing video games on his laptop instead of helping out.

"You could at least act busy," I scoffed as I dropped the box.

George, my annoying little brother, was as usual the only person that was extremely satisfied about us moving, he kept on saying stuff like, 'New Orleans is the best' he also said that New Orleans was the birth place of vampires. We all know vampires are myths, their even more fictitious than most myths I've heard of. But as usual George watches a movie and suddenly whatever is in the movie becomes real, 'according to The Originals New Orleans was created by vampires' he kept yapping. I don't even know why he was allowed to watch a vampire series.

"Bella, Jenny is here." Mom called out from the front door.

"I'll be there in a sec." I replied as I went to the door.

"Bella!" she shrieked and pulled me into a bear hug.

"Hi Jen," I smiled.

Jenny had been my best friend since middle school, before I met her I hated everyone and anyone that walked the school hallway, it wasn't that I thought I was better than them, I just felt that they were all weird till I met Jenny though. Since we became friends in middle school, we were impossible to separate, eventually our parents joined in on our friendship.

"I'm really going to miss you Bella." Jenny said.

"I'll miss you more."

"Promise to call me everyday?"

"I promise."

"Do you know which university you'd be going to?" Jenny asked.

"Nah not yet, dad's company is sponsoring half the payment so it's probably a school that's under them or something." I shrugged.

Typical me to not be interested enough to know the name of the school I'd be starting in a week. It was not that I wasn't interested in going to college or anything like that, it's just, I had already planned how I'd go to a university here in Oklahoma with Jenny. Since dad's work decided to mess with my plans I decided to let them take the wheels and do whatever they want, whatever school I get into then so be it.

"You do know it is your future and not your dad's so it will be nice if you look into it more okay," Jenny said as if reading my thoughts.

"yeah whatever, I'll try." I replied without any atom of sincerity.

Jenny sighed and face palmed herself, "I really don't know how your going to make new friends over there with that attitude of yours."

"you don't need to worry I am not planning on going there to socialize." I shrugged.

"Come on no man or in your case woman is an island." She said.

"Hey girls, we need to get moving soon so I'd appreciate it if you girls help out in putting the rest of these stuff in the trunk." Mom called from the sitting room.

Dad had already hired a moving company to take most of our stuff over so we didn't really have much to carry, but the journey to New Orleans by road was about ten hours journey and mom didn't want us getting there by midnight or something like that.

After putting the rest of the stuff into the trunk, I helped mom strap the baby then bid Jenny farewell and got into the car.

Road trips were not really my thing, I couldn't even bare a three hour school trip without getting irritated even with Jenny beside me how much worse a ten hour journey with an annoying George and a constantly crying Debbie, pure torture. The trip was nothing short of annoying, first George kept poking me to give him snacks when the snacks was right in front of him, like the snack bag was beside him on the seat while Debbie was before the snack bag from my side so why in the world was he pestering me. Like that wasn't enough, dad began to sing some elementary school rhymes after we went past an ice cream truck, why would he do that, I was seventeen, George was 12, the only one amongst us that could have needed the rhymes was asleep, in frigging dream land, but nooo, dad had to sing his rhymes and wake little Debbie.

Now do you know what could possibly have been worse than a crying baby, I'll tell you, a crying baby who won't go back to sleep. Debbie cried for what felt like an hour before she finally accepted her baby formula, but of course not, the ride couldn't have just become peaceful after that, it was like the gods of road trips (not that I believe in gods) were out to hunt me today for daring to go on a ten hour trip. Debbie began to cry again after five minutes of finishing her formula. I tried everything to stop her from crying till I realized that she had filled her diapers. I handed her over to mom to change her, I guess after that the gods decided to have mercy on me and give me something to laugh about cause not too long after mom had changed Debbie, she threw up on mom which was so funny. Dad had to stop the car so mom could clean up.

Eventually, after what felt like a year we finally got to New Orleans, from the scenery I saw on the way to the house, New Orleans didn't look so bad, it wasn't as good as Oklahoma but it wasn't bad either.

The second we pulled up in the driveway of our new home I jumped out of the car like I was being chased. 'Gosh I'm never taking a ride that long ever again.
