Chapter 31: Training on Planet Yardrat.

Planet Yardrat, a technologically advanced world, stretched out before Turles and his group. The colossal metal structures dwarfed anything they had seen anywhere else in the universe. It was no surprise, considering that every species on this planet possessed the incredible ability of Spirit Control. With the power to create clones and manipulate their own ki to lift heavy objects, constructing impressive edifices must have been a breeze for the Yardratians.

Turles, accompanied by his children, approached Elder Pybara with respectful greetings. "Nice to meet you, Elder Pybara. My children wouldn't stop talking about you on the way here. My name is Turles, a Saiyan," He introduced himself politely.

The giant bulbous alien smiled warmly and shook Turles' hand. "Ah, so you're the famous Turles the little ones have been talking about so often," Elder Pybara remarked. The children couldn't contain their excitement, with Bon exclaiming, "My dad is like the strongest, coolest dad ever!" Her younger sister, Stella, chimed in, not wanting to be overshadowed by her big sister in her love for her dad, "He's nice! He's strong! And he is the best dad!" Kress, the youngest of the group, joined in, calling out, "Dad! Dad!"

Chuckling heartily, Elder Pybara said, "Oh wow, now that I'm hearing it again for the thousandth time, I think I get it now." Turles joined in the laughter, appreciating the jovial attitude.

Basil quietly snickered as his dad expressed his gratitude, Turles said, "Thank you, Elder Pybara, for allowing my family and friends to shelter on your planet." Elder Pybara humbly responded, "I'm not sure I had much of a choice. They all just crashed here out of the blue with such sad faces, I felt it was my duty to at least help them out until they weren't so blue in the face."

Turles rubbed the back of his head, a hint of sheepishness in his expression. "They were worried about me. I got caught up in some trouble and had them leave without me to ensure their safety," he explained. Elder Pybara, curious to know more, inquired about the nature of the trouble. "I heard from Pyrona that you needed healing on your arrival. Those girls of yours made such a dizzy around the city, I was wondering what was going on," he chuckled.

Turles replied with a half-hearted explanation, "The bad kind. You know how it is with some people. Not everyone can just get along with one another." Elder Pybara nodded understandingly, his friendly demeanor undeterred. "Well, I hope we won't have any trouble like that. I heard you all wanted training. Can you tell me exactly what for?" he asked, genuinely curious about their intentions.

With a respectful bow of his head, Turles explained, "I heard that your planet has one of the greatest techniques in the universe. My family and friends, more often than not, get caught up in troublesome things. I figured it would be helpful if we learned your species' technique to protect ourselves better. I'm willing to barter in exchange for lessons if necessary.

A little humility never hurt. He was a low-class Saiyan as well. Pride wasn't in his bones. If it came to it, pride or strength, Turles would throw away his pride at every opportunity. This universe was just too dangerous. Just look at him. It only took him around ten years to become one of the strongest in Universe 7.

Elder Pybara assured him, "Ah, there's no need for that, I was simply curious. The others weren't exactly clear on what you all did. They talked about traveling across the universe, touring different planets, but that was all I got." Turles, amused by the description, chuckled and replied, "That's a good way of looking at it. A group of tourists."

"Alright, well, why don't we gather everyone and get started on your training, hmm?" Elder Pybara offered.

"I will ensure your planet is properly compensated for this favor, Elder Pybara. You don't understand how big of a favor you are doing for us." Turles bowed once more with a gentle smile on his face.

Turles's children were very confused by this new side of their father that they were seeing. Even when their mom got angry at him, he never acted weird like this. He didn't act this way with Auntie Naba, Mepple, or Appule or on any of the planets they took over or destroyed. So as any child would when their curiosity bone is tickled, they simply flat-out asked.

"Daddy, why are you acting so weird?" Bon asked, her tone filled with confusion. Turles, ever the patient one, replied, "This is called manners. You act with manners to make friends sometimes."

"Friends…" Bon muttered, unsure of how she should feel seeing this new side of her dad.

"Not everyone will be your friend if you have manners, though. Sometimes acting without manners can make you friends who don't have manners either." Turles continued.

"Do I have manners?" Stella questioned herself and Turles.

"Do you?" Turles smirked.

"I don't know." Stella didn't know what manners was!

"Manners is treating people with respect and treating them how you want to be treated." Turles gave the definition.

Once he saw them start contemplating his words, Turles would make sure to remind them later when they weren't. Sure, he was raising little intergalactic space menaces that had little qualms with killing, torturing, and enslaving others, but that didn't mean they could be raised without knowing how to treat people properly and socialize. They needed common sense. A useful trait that is rarely given to villains.

Sometime later, the Crusher Force could be seen balancing on high-rising thin rocks that made the technological skyscrapers of Planet Yardrat look small in comparison. Far above the sky, they sat, meditating to balance their spirit properly. Kress sat on top of Turles's head as he trained. Sometimes emulating him, sometimes slapping his face, sometimes readying to soil himself. It was a great handicap to his training. Trying to keep his focus while balancing his ki, entertaining Kress, and keeping an eye out on the other children. He trained his psychic energy in the process of playing with Kress.

It was impossible to expect a normal two-year-old to be able to sit still for such a long time. Stella, his four-year-old, also couldn't gather the determination to sit still for so many days. She gave up but not as soon as Turles thought a child of her age would. Stella lasted half a year before being taken back down to the city to play. Both of Sai's offspring flew off to play as well. Nothing out of Turles's expectations. They were very young children.

He didn't even need to encourage Bon. Bon looked toward the straining and sweating Basil with a fierce competitive gaze. Turles figured she refused to let her elder brother outlast her despite his age. Basil wasn't the competitive type, though.

While Bon was glaring at her brother from time to time, Basil was looking at Turles, who had it the hardest out of all of them. Turles had to train while also dealing with Kress. Basil had no such handicap. There was no reason he should give up. He was the son of Turles! The Saiyan that defeated Lord Cooler! Basil was going to learn Spirit Control even if he died up here!

Just as Basil was giving it his all to balance his spirit, so was Bon. Bon prided herself on being better than her brother. She's conquered more planets, bested stronger warriors, and even got the best of their mother occasionally. There was no way she was going to lose to her soft-spoken brother, who didn't even like fighting! She will stay up here until she's learned Spirit Control better than him!

The rest of the Crusher Force couldn't give up either. The entire point of coming to this planet was to learn this blasted technique. Bonyu and Sai handled the grueling training in strides, trusting in Turles's judgment. Mepple was incredibly bored and wanted to explode from how restrained she felt. This was the longest she had ever sat still in her entire life. Maybe she should've refused to join Captain Turles on this mission… Appule focused mostly on himself but also on Mepple. If someone like Mepple could last this long, there was no way he was going to drop before her. He was the mature one compared to her. If this training was hard for him, it was ten times as hard for a hyperactive person like Mepple.

The Crusher Force spent an entire year training under Elder Pybara's instructions to learn Spirit Control. Some learned faster than others, but all in all, progress was being made. Then came the infamous Namek Arc. As Turles was in the middle of completing his Force Spirit Fission training, he received a direct call from Lord Frieza himself.

"CRUSHER FORCE! I NEED YOU ON PLANET NAMEK IMMEDIATELY! THE GINYU FORCE HAS FAILED ME, AND MY WISH FOR IMMORTALITY IS IN JEOPARDY! GET HERE NOW, OR I'LL ERASE ALL OF YOU!" Lord Frieza politely requested in a normal tone of voice that certainly didn't startle Turles in the middle of his training.

"Right away, Lord Frieza. We're moving to our pods ASAP." Turles replied back like a good soldier before disconnecting the call.

"What was that?" Elder Pybara asked.

"Nothing important." Turles put it to the back of his mind. He was almost finished with his training here. A group of Yardratians were lying in a pile, out of energy, in front of him.

Going to Namek now to kill the Earthlings would accomplish nothing for him. His squad would be more than enough to help Frieza survive, but Frieza will survive with or without him. So, what's the point? To go there and try and steal the dragon balls? No point going for that with all that chaos going on on that planet. His plans will come together in due time.
