Their entire conversation was always made semi-mentally.

Qrubin used magic to simulate sound but couldn't hear through normal means as his body was encased in crystal.

Through magic, he detected the sounds and interpreted them, but at the same time, it was simpler for him to read the thoughts of those around him if possible.
