Chapter 9

Davien's P. O. V

The kid came off as pretty serious when he so flamboyantly made that declaration, for someone so young, he had seasoned eyes that boasted of experience. The question now was, experience in what?

"You're making some pretty brazen demands out of me. What makes you think I'd want to run Silvia out of business?" I retorted, giving him a square look.

He continued strolling ahead at a fast pace, I inherently pursued, till we were walking on the same footing. Judging by his fast strides, he seemed to be in a hurry.

"Hey, is there somewhere you need to go to real quick? You're practically running away from the conversation." I flatly told him once we reached the parking lot.

"I have another appointment at nine o'clock, so I can't be late." He responded, stealing a glance into his phone to check the time. I mirrored him to see the time was barely past eight thirty.

"You know, since you're in such a hurry to get to wherever it is you're going. I could just drive you there." I offered, stunning myself by my sudden interest in his affairs.

But, despite my kind offer(which is as rare as winning the lottery), Kian merely waved his hand to me and said in the most disinterested tone...

"I'd rather commute." And then he glided his thumbs across his phone screen, probably calling for a taxi.

I didn't know which came first, whether it was the phone grabbing or the shoulder toss. But either way, in my right hand was Kian's phone, and on my left shoulder, was my protesting mate.

"Savage!" He cursed with curled fists, angrily punching my back with what I wouldn't like to believe was all his strength.

"Stay put, no one declines an offer to get in a car with me, and it sure as hell won't be you." I told him, not caring how petty that sounded.

Not giving him much time to react, I opened the driver's seat of my car and tossed him inside. "Scoot over, I'm taking the wheel."

He scoffed but went along with it, he crawled into the passenger's seat and without being told fastened his seat belt meticulously.

My lips tilted into a half smile, I'm sure when I was his age, I was still getting an earful out of dad for not being a safe passenger. He held out his palm to me, pulling me out of my quick reminiscent.

I raised a questioning brow at him, wondering what he could want. In response he dry coughed, "hand over my phone, I need to send an important message."

While getting into the driver's seat, I tossed his phone onto his thighs, which I could swear I had not been looking at the entire night.

Starting the engine, I reversed the car and drove away from the restaurant, my mind fully occupied with what he had told me earlier on in the restaurant.

If even half of it was true, then I would never forgive the Halfmoon pack for all the trouble they caused. I was no saint, but how did those bastards sleep at night, knowing they sold innocent kids of their own kind.

It was simply unforgivable!

"If you grip the steering wheel that tightly, you'll rip it off." I heard Kian's stoic voice say from beside me.

Forcefully pulled out of my thoughts, I diverted my gaze to the wheel, and like he said, I was overly channeling too much strength into my grip.

I twisted my lips, this certainly wasn't like me.

Kian sighed and stared out the window, "your pack wasn't the only one that had it's members taken away. We all want to bring them down." He hardened his words towards the latter part of the sentence and curled his fingers into a fist.

For the first time since meeting him, I sensed genuine hostility, he truly was every much as pissed off as I was, perhaps even more.

I stole a glance at him, only for him to tilt his head to the side, locking our eyes for a brief moment. I looked away first, sharply returning my focus to the road.

An awkward silence followed, but didn't last for very long, Kian peered into his phone and unequivocally announced. "The bidding is in a week's time, but before then, I'll need you to make a trip to Caesar's place and earn us some extra security."

"Extra security? Caesar?" I blinked twice, trying to connect the dots between the bidding and this name. It was after a brief moment of thinking that I was able to place a face to that name.

"By Caesar, you don't possibly mean Caesar Fabri, right?"

"The very one, if we want to win the bid, we have to work smarter and have the upper hand against Saint inc." he explained with dead serious eyes.

"Don't you think I already know that? That plot of land is hard to acquire, and there's talk about the government carrying out a redevelopment soon. More than anyone, I've had my eye on it." I confessed, not entirely sure why I was saying all this to the enemy.

Maybe it was because he didn't give off a competitive vibe, unlike most of his family, I naturally felt at ease around him. Though, that might just be because of the mate bond.

"From my findings, Caeser Fabri is the only surviving heir of his family business, and has on a whim decided to sell off that property. Silvia had tried to contact him severally, but he has rejected all of her efforts. Since he's human, it places a strain on packs to reach out to him.. " He abruptly took a pause, and stared at me in the most obvious manner.

"What? Is there something on my face?"

I heard him sigh and saw him pinch his temples, "Mr Alpha, just where are you taking me?"

"You didn't specify where, and I didn't want to interrupt what you were saying, since it sounded important." I replied, amazed that I bothered to explain myself, when it was clearly his fault for not telling me where he wanted to go.

"And then, where did our able Alpha think to take me?" His mocking tone made my blood boil, the corners of my mouth twitched, as I fought off Ralph's urge to cage his wrists against the chair and...

And then what?

What would I gain by caging him by the wrists?

I ignored him and continued driving, until I realized that I had subconsciously driven him to my apartment!

Shit!

"This was a mistake, tell me where you want to go and I'll take you there." I hastily told him, making a move to drive away.

"This is fine, it's five minutes to nine o'clock, I need to start my meeting immediately." He told me, stepping out of the car.

I jumped out of the car and followed him, "when did I give you permission to go into my home?" I growled at him, displeased by how naturally he fit into my life, without making much of an effort.

It sickened me.

Kian glared at me, "I wasn't the one who hoisted myself off the ground and shove me into this car, now was I?" He remarked in a snarky tone, walking past me towards the apartment building, ending the subject of discussion.

I sincerely planned to knock him out, but soon picked up on his sweet scent, which for some reason became two times more addictive, when he acted bossy to me.

Normally, I couldn't even tolerate a woman dictating the time and place where we would meet. Not just that, I had never brought a woman I hooked up with back to my apartment with me.

And yet, this kid pranced towards my place like it was second nature, completely ignoring my anger.

"He completely disrespected me just now...so why am I feeling excited all of a sudden?!" I voiced out my thoughts, unable to hide the wide grin planted on my face.
