I Countered Countered Your Strategy!

Today, I fought against someone with a Tearlaments/Ishizu, full board, and I managed to win even though I simply shouldn't. It might be the happiest moment of my life when he didn't shuffle the cards in my graveyard into my deck!

Also, you might recall that Cannon Soldier do five hundred damage. Still, after some change, it became 400 hundred damage only, as it happened in the show, so I decided to follow that instead of the card's actual effect, so the earlier chapter was changed.

Lastly, if there are any errors, please point them out. I was pretty tired while editing this chapter, so I might have some mistakes! Thanks!

There were many types of Yugioh players out there, but in my opinion, burn decks were the worst of the worst! I mean, what's the even point of playing if you're not even interacting with your opponent? Rebecca's strategy wasn't exactly a burning type, but it isn't nice!

"I will activate Solemn Wish! Whenever I draw a card, I gain five hundred life points!" I shouted before Rebecca ended her turn.

[Yuna Sano: 900 LP -> 1400 LP]

Not intending to give up, Rebecca kept launching monsters my way, dealing a thousand and six hundred worth of damage in two turns with a series of the normal summons and special summoning.

However, I survived by a hair's breadth, taking advantage of Pot of Greed and my normal draw phase, causing my life points to rest at a thousand and eight hundred on my turn.

"I use Graceful Charity." I shouted, and a praying angel dressed in white suddenly appeared on the field: "I can draw three cards and then discard two from my hand!"

[Yuna Sano: 1800 LP -> 3300 LP] [1]

Finally, I could discard my brick dragons and replenish my hand with more versatile cards! With the new arsenal, I fervently began my assault.

"I will activate Dragon Knight of Creation's effect; I will discard one card and send Dragon Knight of Creation to the graveyard and special summon Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand from the grave!"

Dragon Knight of Creation disappeared into a beam of light. Gradually, the light formed a shape of a humongous dragon. Its golden scales flashed brilliantly, and its roar frightened Rebecca.

[Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand: 2800 Attack, 2800 Defence]

"With Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand, I will banish the Millenium Shield on the field, and Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand will gain attack and defence equal to its level multiplied by one hundred!"

[Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand: 2800 -> 3300 Attack, 2800 -> 3300 Defence]

"Also, since Dragon Knight of Creation was sent to the graveyard, I can revive Keeper of the Shrine!"

[Keeper of the Shrine: 0 Attack, 2100 Defence]

"Now your Cannon Soldier's no longer protected!" I said as Rebecca's eyes widened in realisation: "Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand, attack!"

Without hesitation, Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand lunged at Rebecca's monster. The dragon grasped Cannon Soldier in its claws and clamped down with its jaw. The robot combusted, sweeping Rebecca off her feet.

[Rebecca Hawkins: 2000 LP -> 100 LP]

"Finally, Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand's effect has been activated after destroying your monster, and I will special summon Arkbrave Dragon in defence position!"

[Arkbrave Dragon: 2400 Attack, 2000 Defence]

"I will set one more card and end my turn," I muttered.

Staring at my monsters, Rebecca sat there with a stupefied expression and nervously regained her footing. She pouted angrily and cutely raised her tiny fist: "You may have just bounced back, but it's not over!"

"First, I use Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy the Solemn Wish!" Rebecca declared, and a sudden whirlwind shattered my card into pieces.

"Next, I will play Tribute to the Doomed and discard a card from my hand to destroy Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand! Hundreds of dirty bandages burst from the ground, wrapping themselves around Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand's body. The monster was encased like a mummy and forcibly buried in the earth in seconds.

[Yuna Sano: 3300 LP -> 1650 LP]

"I will activate my Card of Sanctity to draw until I have six cards. I will also use Pot of Greed and add two more cards."

"With this many cards, I can finally activate my strongest spell! Judgement Blaster!" Rebecca laughed: "By discarding five cards, I can destroy all the monsters on your field!"

A beam fell from the sky and struck the Keeper of the Shrine and Arkbrave Dragon. The elderly man and dragon exploded instantly, without a trace.

[Yuna: 1650 LP -> 450 LP]

"Finally, I activate the spell, Monster Reborn! To special summon the monster I discarded earlier! Here it comes, my strongest monster, Shadowl Ghoul!"

A horrifying green monster emerges. It has four legs attached to a small mid-section with a slender upper torso. The Monster has a stretched-out face with pincers as its jaws and a green mane running down its back. The most disturbing thing was the fleshy red orbs growing out of every area of its body, similar to Starving Venom Fusion Dragon, but way more grotesque.

[Shadow Ghoul: 1600 Attack, 1300 Defence]

"With Shadow Ghoul's ability, it gains one hundred attacks for every monster in the graveyard!"

Remembering the number of cards Rebecca has been discarding, I frowned. Seeing my expression, she laughed and slowly announced the monsters resting in her graveyard...

That's a total of fifteen monsters... So fifteen hundred attack?

[Shadow Ghoul: 1600 -> 3100 Attack, 1300 Defence]

"Lastly, I use Card of Demise (anime) and draw until I have five cards. But I have discarded them during my fifth turn."

With her hand replenished, Rebecca immediately set three cards on the field and rendered her turn. I gazed at Shadow Ghoul intently. Considering that it was starting at a thousand six hundred attacks, it was a feat to boost the Shadow Ghoul this high. With two more set cards on the field, it would be difficult for me to defeat it. However, that doesn't stop me from trying!

"Since Arkbrave Dragon was sent to the graveyard, last turn, it allows me to summon a level seven or eight dragon monster special!" I said, and light enveloped my field: "I will revive my Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand!"

Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand returned to my field, and I instantly activated its ability: "I will banish Shadow Ghoul!"

Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand roared and unleashed an orange beam from its jaws. Unfortunately, Rebecca already has precautions...

Rebecca: "I will activate my trap card, Imperial Iron Wall! While this card is on the field, we can not banish any cards!"

Before the beam struck Shadow Ghoul, a massive stone wall rises from the ground. The wall shielded her monster from the attack. Plan A doesn't seem to work, but don't worry. That's why I always have a backup plan!

"I use the spell card Wing Beat of Giant Dragon, and I will return Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand into my hand, and I can destroy all the traps and spell cards on the field!"

Yet, Rebecca also has a counter to that as well...

"I will use my trap, Magic Jammer. I can negate your activated spell by discarding a card from my hand!" Rebecca announced: "Also, the card I discarded earlier was actually my Electric Snake, and my Shadow Ghoul gained one hundred attacks!

[Shadow Ghoul: 3100 -> 3200 Attack, 1300 Defence]

Umm... That doesn't seem to work, either. Unbeknownst to her, I have a Plan C, and Rebecca won't know what's coming!

Well, that's at least what I want to say...

I gritted my teeth and ended my turn after much frustration. Rebecca giggled and instantly attacked. Since Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand's ability didn't successfully activate, Shadow Ghouls' strength was superior.

The fiend rushed towards Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand. My dragon tried to drive the monster away with its claws but was easily suppressed and defeated.

[Yuna Sano: 450 LP -> 50 LP]

"I will set two cards face down and end my turn!" Rebecca said as two more cards appeared before her.

Crap...

I think I'm in trouble. My monsters couldn't gain an edge in power with Imperial Iron Wall as my trump card, Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand, needed to banish monsters to grow. Other cards, such as Reinforcement or Polymerisation, were also used to summon Starving Venom Fusion Dragon. However, those ideas were already down the drain when Rebecca used Card Destruction earlier and I lost both cards.

Thankfully, with my credits, I added some new cards to help me, but I haven't even seen them yet...

"What are you waiting for?" Rebecca crossed her arms: "Are you stalling now?"

Sheesh, don't rush me! Let me think this through! Unlike some of the other boss monsters I have faced in this world, Rebecca's Shadow Ghoul was rather average compared to Pegasus's Thousand Eye Restrict, so I can play defensively without much pressure.

However, Rebecca was thriving at the number of powerful traps and spells guarding her Shadow Ghoul, and I'm sure that if I didn't do something major quick, it would come back and bite me later!

While pondering, I suddenly heard a loud shout from the sidelines.

"Yuna Sano!" Grandpa Mutou yelled: "Don't give up no matter what!"

Eh, I'm not throwing down the towel yet. However, Grandpa Mutou couldn't read my thoughts and continued lecturing me with a deep voice: "You're a strong duelist! So believe in the heart of the cards, and you will never fail!"

My cheeks felt warm, and I was embarrassed by his strong belief in me. Strangely, when Grandpa Mutou spoke, it sounded convincing, and I was caught up with his momentum.

There was a cozy feeling in my chest, oddly nostalgic and yearning. Maybe it was the lack of parental figures in my life, but Grandpa Mutou's praise excited me, and I was determined not to let him down!

Alright, like he said, Heart of the Cards, right? I will draw and see what happens. As I added a new card to my hand, I froze...

Oi oi, what's this, what sorcery that Grandpa Mutou deal with? Why was the card here now? I was resolved that I won't get it until after at least three more turns! Please, Grandpa Mutou, share some of your protagonist power with me too!!!

[3rd POV]

Rebecca smiled; everything was going perfectly as planned. At first, she was greatly shocked that she almost perished from Yuna's Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand. However, after foiling Yuna's strategies, she felt safer.

'Soon, I can return Grandpa's card from those thieves!'

However, Rebecca suddenly felt a slight chill and frowned when her opponent didn't react like she wanted. Yuna stared at the cards in her hand with a thoughtful expression.

"I will first play Pot of Greed to draw two cards from my deck!" Yuna shouted: "Then I use Return of Dragon Lords and special summon Arkbrave Dragon!"

"After that, I activate Wing Beat of the Giant Dragon and bring Arkbrave Dragon back into my hand to destroy all the traps and spells on the field!"

'Again?' Rebecca thought; luckily, she had already prepared something.

She smiled, assuming that Yuna had run out of options and played her card: "I will use Fake Trap! If one of my trap cards is going to be destroyed by a spell or trap card, it will destroy this card instead!"

Rebecca thought she had won and relaxed her guard, but that was ultimately the mistake.

"I will then play Double Cyclone and destroy the Wing Beat of the Giant Dragon to remove your Imperial Iron Wall! Yuna declared: "Since I activated this spell after your Fake Trap, Your Imperial Iron Wall is no longer protected!"

Rebecca: !!!

Twin whirlwinds manifested from thin air, striking both of their fields. One of the tornados crashed into the massive fortified wall. Cracks ran along the structure, and the wall collapsed, revealing the hiding Shadow Ghoul on the other side.

"Then I will banish my Koumori Dragon and Paladin of Felgrand in the graveyard to special summon Darkflare Dragon from my hand!"

[Darkflare Dragon: 2400 Attack, 1200 Defence]

"I then used Darkflare Dragon's effect and sent Light Pulsar Dragon from my hand and the third Koumori Dragon in my deck to the graveyard and banished the Giant Soldier of Stone in your graveyard!"

With the banishing, Rebecca gasped and watched as her Shadow Ghoul's attack dropped.

[Shadow Ghoul: 3200 -> 3100 Attack, 1300 Defence]

"This was only the beginning. "The real show starts now! " Yuna smiled: "I use Monster Reborn to revive your Sangan!"

The small furry creature with three eyes made another entrance onto the field. However, this time, it's not on Rebecca's side.

[Sangan: 1000 Attack, 300 Defence]

[Shadow Ghoul: 3100 -> 3000 Attack, 1300 Defence]

"I will also activate my set trap, Dragon's Rebirth to banish the Keeper of the Shrine and summon Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand from my graveyard!"

The golden dragon was revived, and Rebecca thought it had never looked so ferocious until now. Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand snarled, displaying its array of sharp teeth, taunting her.

[Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand: 2800 Attack, 2800 Defence]

"With Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand's effect, I will banish your Witch of the Black Forest in your graveyard, and it will gain attacks and defence equal to that monster's level!"

[Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand: 2800 -> 3200 Attack, 2800 -> 3200 Defence]

[Shadow Ghoul: 3000 -> 2900 Attack, 1300 Defence]

"I will activate my last trap!" Rebecca yelled desperately: "I use Spellbinding Circle (anime) and use its first ability so Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand will lose seven hundred attacks!"

[Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand: 3200 -> 2500 Attack, 2800 Defence]

"Now your Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand's power is lower than my Shadow Ghoul!" Rebecca said while sweating.

"So what?" Yuna retorted, and Rebecca's eyes widened: "Who said I'm using Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand?"

"I will use Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand and Darkflare Dragon as tributes! To summon Blue-Eyes White Dragon!"

Rebecca took a step back as the majestic dragon towered over her. Its sapphire pupils stared into her soul, and the monster roared with rage.

[Blue Eyes White Dragon: 3000 Attack, 2500 Defence]

"Now, Blue Eyes White Dragon, attack!" Yuna said and pointed at the Shadow Ghoul.

Blue Eyes White Dragon howled and opened its jaw and generated a blinding white light in its mouth. The dragon unleashed the deadly beam, and Rebecca screamed as her Shadow Ghoul was vaporised instantly...

[Rebecca Hawkins: 100 LP -> 0 LP]

As the duel ended, Rebecca was still in shock as she opened and closed her mouth like a goldfish. Gradually, when reality set in, her face paled. Rebecca glimpsed at Solomon, who was praising Yuna for her performance.

With a deep breath, she quietly approached them. Noticing her presence, Solomona and Yuna stared at her with anticipation. Rebecca clenched her fist: "Y... you win... I will leave you alone now..."

Rebecca didn't wait for their response and ran away in shame. However, she crashed into someone and tripped. She painfully rubbed her head and gasped when the girl saw the person she collided with.

"Gran... Grandpa!" She squealed in shock.

"Ah, Arthur, long time no see." Solomon greeted.

The old man in question smiled: "Indeed, I have heard of what happened here."

Arthur stared at the nervous Rebecca: "You should have known better. Don't you know it's rude barging into someone's store like this?"

"But Grandpa!" Rebecca reasoned: "He's the one that stole your card."

"Bah, I don't know what you're talking about," Arthur said with a wave of his hand: "I gifted Solomon that card."

"So he never stole it...." Rebecca muttered blankly.

She looked at Solomon and Arthur with horror. Her Grandfather sighed and crossed his arms: "Do you know how much trouble you're in?"

"I... I'm sorry!!!" She screamed while bowing at a ninety degrees angle.

As Arthur scolded the misbehaving Rebecca, Yuna tapped on Solomon's shoulder. She showed him the Blue Eyes White Dragon with regret. No matter how much Yuna wanted to keep it, she understood that it was something she must do.

Solomon stared at the Blue Eyes White Dragon in his hand and smirked: "Here, keep it."

Yuna:!!!

"I have seen your duelling spirit and think you deserve this card." Solomon explained: "Besides, it's useless gathering dust in my store. Do you mind Arthur?" He asked his friend.

Arthur laughed: "Oh I arrived late, but I have seen all I need. She's perfect to have the card."

Yuna stared at Solomon, who smiled kindly: "You heard him, keep it. You earned it."

Suddenly, Yuna hugged Solomon tightly, catching him by surprise.

"T... thank you..." She murmured timidly.

Solomon grinned and patted Yuna's back. She eventually broke away while blushing with shame. Solomon chuckled; despite Yuna's beautiful and elegant appearance, he found the girl quite adorable and couldn't help but treat her like a granddaughter.

"Let's go back, and I believe you still have business left in my store?"

Yuna nodded eagerly and after saying goodbye to Mokuba, she followed Solomon back to the Kame Game Store...
