1.18 Taunting

Demetrius gazed at his wife as she remained silent, staring out the window. He glanced over at Evander, who had fallen asleep with his earphones still on.

Turning his attention back to Calista, he asked, "Are you all right?"

Calista met his gaze, her eyes welling up with tears as she shook her head. "All this time, my son thought I hated him! He believed that the only person who truly loved him was Sophia. To him, we were just his employers and nothing more."

Demetrius ran his hand through his hair, realizing that he had no idea how Persie truly felt about them.

They assumed that Persie always wanted to be around Sophia when she worked for them, so they left him with her often.

When Sophia left, he never complained or showed any negative emotions, leading them to believe that he was okay.
