Estadio de Janeiro was big and imposing, just like Estadio de Sao Luis.

Today though, the home stadium of Janeiro FC was not filled with Janeiro fans as the fans supporting Bravos Tigres filled about half of the stadium.

Despite this being their home game and them receiving 70% of the stadium slots, the fans of Bravos Tigres were simply not enough to occupy this 55,000-capacity stadium and the rest slots were naturally occupied by the fervent Sao Luis FC supporters in their black with gold stripes away jersey.

After a run of good form in the league that saw them now sitting 9th position in the league table, Bravos Tigres hoped to extend their points tally against a Sao Luis opposition that was currently high-flying.

From the very first minute of play, as Bravos Tigres kicked off, it was clear that they wanted an early goal as they pounced on the opposition halfway line like hounds going after prey.
