"Are you sure about that?" Lise asked, also standing up beside me. "Wouldn't that be more work? I thought you wanted it all to be over?"
I chuckled, "Well, Lise. There's more to life than peace. Maybe I'd want maybe a month or year or two of relative peace, after which I'd get bored and want a breath of fresh air." I gave Lise a smile as I faced her. "After all of this, do you honestly think you can put your sword down and live a quiet life without some excitement?"
Predictably, Lise's frown made it clear that she was having doubts thinking about a life without adrenaline. Being forced to fight for the majority of your life makes it hard to acclimate to a quiet life. In a way, it was a form of PTSD that will never leave you no matter how hard you try. God knows I probably won't stop training my skills even after all of this.
"Probably not," Lise chuckled after a few seconds of deliberation. "It'd feel... weird not to always have a weapon on me."
