Chapter 4: THE PAST 3

A few months later Mum was sent to a charity home care. Since I and my aunt could no longer afford her bills, I left my aunt's house and started living on my own the moment I turned 18. I also tried reopening mum's boutique to help myself, life has been hell for me, and every day I strive so hard to survive. And after all these horrible years of suffering, here he was calling me.

"Hazel are you still there?" That got me out of my daze and I realized I'd been quiet for some time now. I cleaned the little tears that fell down my cheeks and hunged up without giving him a reply. And just when I got up from the table to sit on the executive chair, another call came in but this time it wasn't my dad.

"It seems you're trying my patience Becca, I would be forced to throw you out of your apartment if you don't pay before the end of the month," Mr. Max said sternly. Since I started staying with my aunt I had to change my name from Hazel Gale to Becca Anderson that's my mum's surname.

"Please give me some more time I promise to pay before you know it" I tried to be as calm as possible with everything going on right now.

"I'm going to give you a week to pay your debt and if you don't I'll have no other choice than to throw you out" he hunged up. This left me speechless, thinking of the next way out my eyes met the package my dad sent. Curious this time, I opened it and found a Visa in it. It was a Visa to New York and a little black note in it, I opened the note to read its content.

"You are invited to the Wilson's party, Miss Hazel Gale!" That's all in the note. So he called me to invite me to some lame party, I thought to myself "what a joke!" I said as I relaxed on my seat placing my head backward with my eyes closed I took a deep breath and got into deep meditation thinking of how to clear my debt in a week.

Thinking of an easy way out, another call came in. "This better be worth disturbing me!".

"Hello!" Without checking the caller I picked up the call.

"It's a good thing you finally answered" the same cold voice from before spoke again.

"What do you want from me?" I was getting furious, he was the last person I wanted to talk to right now. But I tried to be as calm as possible.

"Seems like your mum thought you nothing after all these years. You don't speak to your elders in such a tone and to think that I'm your father!".

"Don't speak ill about mum, you don't have any right. And you stopped being my father the very day you left us!" I said sternly cause I was getting really irritated.

"Hahaha," he laughed "Anyways I don't have much time to banter words with you. I need you in New York by tomorrow I believe by now you have opened my little gift, all your expenses have been made the only thing you have to do now is to come to New York I have a business proposal for you".
