Chapter 34: Trial Of Potions

I was still a bit woozy as I moved back into the courtroom with the others. A few candidates were hunched over against the wall, still looking very ill, while others, like Eyran, were sitting up just fine.

"Hey, how are you doing?" I asked, sitting down next to him.

"Hanging in there," said Eyran, resting back on his elbows. "I studied the previous trials and brought some things just in case something like this happened."

"Why didn't I think of that?" I grumbled.

"Please line up for the potions exam," called Felix from the front, and we all rose to our feet.

One by one, we took our positions, filling in two tables that sat parallel across each other.

Each of us had a single burner and a cauldron no bigger than a standard-sized cooking pot, a wooden spoon to the right, and bowls of ingredients to the left.
