Chapter 164: Another old acquaintance
"Whoa!" Chopper stared in awe at the sight.
"This is a bit more than expected"Admitted Vivi.
"Maybe I should stay inside after all…" cried Buggy.
In front of them was an army of at least a thousand men.
All-season marines, armed and ready to fight and prevent their escape from the small island.
"It doesn't matter how many they send, we'll beat the all if they try to stop us!" Shouted their Captain.
Vivi threw Saldeath back inside the building.
"You are free, but I would advise you to stay inside until this battle is over kiddo"
The little demon looked somewhat scared and just moved.
Buggy still seemed to be contemplating returning inside.
"If you go in there, you may never see the light of day again," Vivi said to the scared clown.
This one turned to look at her.
"Are you planning of being a coward forever?, you were a member of the Pirate King crew, weren't you? Have some fucking pride!"
She turned around and ignored the angry clown.
"I cannot see my brother anywhere!" said Luffy with worry.
Vivi extended her observation haki as far as she could and noticed several things.
First, the Marines took some extra precautions to avoid their escape. All of the ships were at least 100 yards away from the island.
Second, she had no way to find Ace specifically because she didn't have the ability to feel auras when they meet. She could, however, feel the presence of a very familiar and very powerful individual in the distance.
Vivi pointed forward.
"One mile that way on the sea, I can feel the presence of the Admiral we fought two years ago in Shabondy, Kizaru. He must be the one guarding Ace."
"He is so far away! , how do we get there?" Said Luffy.
"I can fly. " Said, Marco. " Maybe I could try to grab Ace"
"With an Admiral protecting the ship? You will get shot down from the sky and die" Said Inazuma.
We are going to have to get one of those ships" Sanji to the five warships in the distance"
"Marco and I can do that, we are the best suited for the task. But first…" She looked at the angry marines running towards them with their weapons in hand.
"Gear second…" Luffys body started to smoke.
He then walked first toward the Marines and gave them an intimidating gaze.
"You guys…are in the way…"
A wave of energy came out of his body and extended over the entire place.
Luffy's Conqueror Haki had an immediate effect on the Marines.
Of the one thousand marines, over half of them were knocked unconscious while the rest had managed to barely hold on and were brought to one knee. It was quite impressive that soo many managed to withstand Luffy's haki even if he is still very new to using it. This proved to them that the remaining marines were strong ones.
They all then charged to battle.
Luffy, Sanji, and Chopper immediately started fighting the remaining marines.
Inazuma, Morley, and Bon Clay started to open a way for Vivi and Marco to leave.
Marco went first, he turned his arms into wings and took into the air. Vivi then followed by creating a couple of ice plates under her boots.
As she was lifting up, a couple of marines rose their rifles to fire at her but were interrupted by an unlikely source.
"Splash!" Two detached hands carrying knives stabbed the marines.
"Ha!, don't you forget about me, you damn marines!." Shouted Buggy.
Vivi recovered from her surprise and gave the clown a thumbs-up before flying away.
Lots of screams could be heard as marines were being crushed by a gigantic metal hand.
"Die!" Eustass Kid kept yelling as they obliterated marines of different ranks that even included some captains.
"Witch one?!" Marco got closer and asked.
The two of them were a few dozen yards in the air and could see the entire area very clearly.
There were indeed five marine warships fairly close to them and one more that could be seen in the distance, and even further away were the colossal Gates of Justice.
'The one far away is the one where Ace is probably being held. We need to get him before they cross the gates, but if we try to approach carefully, Kizaru will knock us down into the water
She then paid closer attention to the ships, they all had at least one powerful individual in them but not as much as Kizaru.
'Vice-Admirals…five of them. They really want to stop us, huh? At least none of them belongs to Garp, so that's a relief…'
She recognize someone in one of the ships and made her choice.
"Let's take that one!." She pointed at the leftmost ship.
The two of them landed on the ship and were quickly surrounded by marines.
"Stand back, soldiers!" The grave voice of the Vice-Admiral on board resounded with authority.
The marines stepped aside, revealing the familiar figure of Captain Smoker with Tashigi.
"Oh, if it isn't the old Captain Smoker and Zoro's girlfriend. Mind if I borrow your ship? we have a situation." Requested Vivi.
"Im a Vice-Admiral now, and I'm not that old, former Princess, Vivi."
"I'm not Roronoa's girlfriend, how dare you! he is a pirate!" Said Tashigi with indignation and rosy cheeks.
"Well, congratulations on your promotion, so this is your ship now? I know being in your fifties is not that old, but come on…."
"Hey, give the guy a chance at least, and even if we are technically pirates, we haven't really done anything that bad so far." Vivi defended.
"I'm thirty-six!" Shouted Smoker.
"Nothing bad?!, you guys destroyed Impel Down, one of the most important locations for the WG. And you made quite the mess in Impel Down already."
"You are thirty-six?!. Man…you really have to quit smoking." Answered Vivi.
"Is the grey hair!" Defended Smoker.
"Don't ignore me!" Shouted Tashigi.
"Is this going to take long?...because…you know…" Marco looked around awkwardly.
