Nancy’s POV
Standing in the hallway leading to Carter’s dorm room, I wonder if I’m doing the right thing. He’s called and messaged me like a madman over the past few days saying he was sorry and wanted to apologize in person. I don’t understand the point of repeatedly messaging someone. If they don’t reply the first or second time you should give up! It’s annoying and embarrassing having your phone consistently go off all the time.
I take the final step and knock on his door.
The door opens, and when Carter sees me, his shoulders loosen. He has a sad smile on his face while he leans against the open door, staring at me as if he can’t believe I’m here.
“Can I come in or...” I shuffle my feet, feeling incredibly awkward.
“Yeah. Yeah. Sorry, a part of me thought you wouldn’t show up.” Carter stands off to the side, ready to close the door.
