All the softness vanished from Arthur's eyes when he saw this. The village chief was also frowning and couldn't help but say

"Arthur, I don't think she is in the condition to sign this. Why don't you come later with your parents?"

However, Arthur didn't agree with Village Chief. To divert the latter's attention, he said

"Village Chief, Can I get some water to drink?"

Village Chief nodded his head. There was no one at home except him so he had to go on his own to the kitchen to bring water.

As soon as he left the yard, Arthur held Evelyn's arm and made her stand. Looking into her eyes blank eyes coldly, he said

"If you don't put your thumb on this paper now, do you believe me that I won't even let you attend that lame's funeral?"
