The New Red Pt. 2

You sat at the batcomputer looking over the footage from the train station. You were still trying to figure out who this new Red Hood was. From the way they moved to their marksmanship, it was on par with Jason. You even sent Bruce a copy to see if he could help out. You paused the video after watching it for the 7th time and leaned back in the chair.

Stephanie: There you are.

You spun the chair and found Stephanie walking towards you. She had her hands in her pockets and took a look at the screen.

Stephanie: Soooo, new guy in the hood?

You didn't answer.

Y/N: Maybe. Could just be someone playing dress up. It's definitely not Jason though. Too short.

You stood up and walked towards the stairs about to call it a day.

Stephanie: Hey, do you want to talk? About everything that's been going on? Like about your mom and the whole you have the meta gene or even about, well, everything?

You stopped and thought about it. Maybe talking about someone could help but you didn't want to bother anyone with your problems. Helena had tried but you just smiled it off.

Y/N: I'm fine.

Suddenly something popped in your head.

Y/N: Uh, do you have something on your mind?

Stephanie seemed to be caught off guard and looked away.

Stephanie: You want to hear about my problems?

You fully turned around.

Y/N: Yeah. I'm all ears. What friend would I be if I couldn't even help you out?

Stephanie smiled as a slight blush appeared on her cheeks. Before she could say anything you felt a hand on your shoulder. You looked over your shoulder to see Tim.

Y/N: Yo Red Robin.....yum.

Tim rolled his eyes but smiled anyway.

Tim: Debra was looking for you. Said she needed to talk to you about something. She's in the kitchen.

Y/N: Thanks.

You turned back to Stephanie.

Y/N: I'll be right back. If not then I'll find you.

Stephanie just nodded. You began your way through the Manor.---------You ended up in the Kitchen now out of your suit and found Debra sitting at the island talking to Alfred.

Debra: And that's pretty much how it went down.

Alfred seemed to be beaming as he listened to the young woman. She noticed you enter and spun in her chair with a wide grin that reminded you of her Jokerz days.

Debra: There he is! The man of the hour.

You waved.

Y/N: Tim said you needed to talk to me?

She nodded and turned to Alfred who was still smiling. A chill went up your spine. Something wasn't right.

Y/N: Well, what's up?

Debra: Ok ok. What I'm about to tell you is top secret. No one else can know! I trust you though since Beyond said you were cool. Oh! You can't tell him either.

You nodded.

Debra: Well I'm, Red Hood.

She squealed while your eyes grew wide. Alfred was smirking, apparently enjoying the events unfolding.

Y/N: You're who now?

Debra: Well I'm not Red Hood. I'm the new one. Like I'm the one who helped at the train station today. I was going to introduce myself to Beyond, oh and Huntress I guess, but I just got so nervous and the adrenaline was already pumping. It was so cool!

You just stood there, mouth open, as you tried to process everything. You were expecting this to take days or even weeks to figure out who Red Hood was. SHE JUST TOLD YOU!

Y/N: Interesting.

Debra: I know right?! But the next time I see Beyond I'll need to be a lot more confident. I was so embarrassed. Plus Huntress was there to so that didn't help.

Y/N: Can I ask why?

She looked at you before answering. She looked down and gave it some thought.

Debra: Only if you promise not to tell him about this either.

You just nodded.

Debra: Well if I'm being honest, I kind of, short of, low key, have a giant crush on him.

You just nodded.

Y/N: Good to know. I guess. You think this is the way to get his attention?

She nodded.

Debra: Alfred actually gave me the idea!

You glared at Alfred who pretended to not even pay attention.

Alfred: With the original Red Hood missing and her future technology, I suggested she help with her skills to get closer to Beyond.

Y/N: Great idea Alf.

You said this through gritted teeth but Debra didn't seem to notice.

Debra: I just want to work alongside him for now. Maybe get closer as time goes on. We are both from the future after all.

Y/N: Right. That is true. Why tell me all of this though?

Debra: Well because you know him the best. I was just wondering if you had any advice.

You sighed before turning around to leave.

Y/N: Yeah, stop while you're ahead. Focus on living a normal life.

Debra: What?! Why?

You turned around again.

Y/N: You want to risk your life for some guy?! You don't even know who he is!

Debra: He's a hero who has saved my life more times than I can count!

Alfred just slowly snuck away from the two of you.

Y/N: He never saved your life! From what I heard you were just an enemy!

Debra: To him I'm sure I was! But he saved me in ways you could never understand. I never joined the Jokerz because I wanted to. I joined to keep Debbie out of trouble. To keep her safe. It was hard especially when she would push me to the side to go off with some guy. I had no one on my side except my grandma. When she died I was all alone!

She sat back down and held her hands close to her.

Debra: That night I wanted to die. I wanted to die Y/N. I was close to it to. We had a job that I took with the intention to get myself killed by a guard or something. I was close but then he showed up. Batman. Beyond. He fought off the thugs and seemed surprised to see me. He asked me what I was doing there without my sister and I told him I didn't need her help. I tried to beat him but he beat me instead. Then he held me as I cried. He gave a damn about me. He cared when I had no one. In the nights that followed, the ones where I wanted to die, I thought about him. I decided to be able to be seen as his equal. Rather that be as a villain or as a friend. So don't you dare say he never saved me! He's my hero even if we were on the different sides of the law!

You stood there speechless. You recalled the night she was talking about. She had suddenly broke down into tears and you held her not knowing what else to do. You still turned her in but you kept a close eye on her since.

Y/N: I'm sorry. I didn't know.

Debra: Why would you? You don't know a lot of stuff. I'm sorry for all of that.

Y/N: Don't be. It's my fault. I know a lot more than you think.

She looked at you confused.

Debra: Did Beyond tell you?

You shook your head as you activated your watch. It was time.

Y/N: I was there.

Your suit finished materializing leaving her stunned. You stood before her as Beyond.

Y/N: I'm sorry for not telling you sooner.

Her face suddenly grew red in embarrassment as she realized she just confessed her feelings for you. She buried her face in her hands as groaned.

Debra: Oh my god. I'm a idiot.

Y/N: Nah, we're just good at keeping secrets.

You took off the suit and smiled.

Y/N: I guess we should get to training. You do want to be my equal after all right?

You held your hand out to her. She looked up to you and smiled as she took it.
