Best friend (Demon brothers x reader)

Y/N's POV

"Well, I guess this is it..." I looked towards the portal that led to the demon realm known as Devildom.

"You'll be just fine! After all, you're smart and beautiful. A few demons might even fall in love with you." Tooru Oikawa, my best friend, gave me his usual childish wink.

Even after all of these years, he still tries to act like this. We have a completely platonic relationship, but we're close.

"I'm not one of those girls at school you know. You don't need to act all flirty or childish with me." I smirked.

"Heh. I guess I will miss you. Only a little bit though. We'll see each other again in a year, so don't go crying on me." Tooru pulled me in for a quick hug. He was a few inches taller than me, so he had to bend down slightly.

"Idiot...." I managed to hold back my tears as I entered the portal, taking one last glance at my best friend.

"Y/N, the movie's about to start!" I heard Satan call from the other room. Today all of the brothers and me were going to watch a movie.

"Okay! I'm coming!" I yelled back as I finished tying up my hair. I looked in the mirror, and looked at the photo on the dresser of me and Tooru, and smiled sadly.

I took a deep breath before leaving the room to go watch the movie. Everyone was already sitting down somewhere.

"Yo Y/N! Sit next to me!" Mammon patted the seat next to him, which appeared to be the only seat available.

"Alright, alright. Calm down." I shook my head as I sat down. Asmo was on the other side of me, and he clung to my arm.

"Oh you look so cute with your hair up~" Asmo played with my ponytail, and I chuckled.

"I hardly look any different than I usually do." I've put my hair in ponytails so many times since coming here.

"Hey! Quit touchin' her!" Mammon swatted Asmo's hand away. Luckily, Asmo didn't accidentally tug on my hair.

"Will you be quiet so we can start the movie?" Satan grumbled. He seemed more annoyed than usual.

"For once we agree." Lucifer sighed as he watched the scene unfold. I sighed. Every day here was like this, but it's never boring.

We finally started the movie, and everyone went quiet. I leaned back in my seat a little to get more comfortable.

Some time past, and nothing too exciting happened in the movie. That is, until some music started playing in the background.

It was Best Friend by Rex Orange. It wasn't just some random song to me. Back when me and Tooru were kids, this was our favorite song.

He even used to try singing along with it, minus the cursing. It quickly became what we called our "best friend anthem."

As the song went on, I tried my best not to cry, but my hands started shaking. Soon, my body was trembling too.

"Y/N? Are you-?" Asmo started, but tears started streaming down my face. I quickly stood up and ran to my room.

I locked the door behind me and grabbed my D.D.D and dialed Solomon's phone number.

He hung up the phone, and I pulled the blanket over my head. I missed him dearly, and I didn't have any reception with my human world phone. Which means I can't get in contact with him.

3rd POV

The brothers had paused the movie, and they were looking in the direction of Y/N's room.

"Does anyone have any idea on why she was crying?" Lucifer spoke first. Everyone shook their heads.

The doorbell suddenly rang, and the brothers went to go see who it was. When they opened the door, Solomon was standing there with a slightly worried look on his face.

"Sorry for coming here on such short notice, but where's Y/N?" Solomon asked.

"She's in her room. Is something wrong?" Satan raised an eyebrow. Solomon nodded as he started to walk to the girl's room.

"I'll explain later, but I need to calm her down first." Solomon said as they all stopped in front of Y/N's door.

He opened the door, and closed it behind him. Y/N peeked out from under the blanket as Solomon walked over to her.

"S-Solomon...I miss Tooru..." The girl clung to Solomon as he placed a reassuring hand on her back.

"It's going to be alright. You'll be able to see him again." His calming voice made Y/N calm down a little bit.

"B-But...I haven't talked to him...since I left the human world. A-And Best Friend came on the movie..."  She explained in a soft voice.

Solomon didn't know what to say, so he just let Y/N continue to cry. After a while, she eventually fell asleep, leaning against Solomon.

He sighed as he helped her lay down, and covered her up with the blanket. He then quietly left the room. To his surprise, the brothers were still waiting outside the room.

"Is she alright?" Levi asked. Solomon nodded. He felt a little bad for the girl. All she wanted was to see her friend.

"Yes, she's asleep. I'll explain what's happening. Let's go to another room. I don't want to wake her up." Lucifer guided everyone to the living room.

"So, what made her upset?" Belphie asked.

"She misses her best friend in the human world, Tooru Oikawa. They've known each other since elementary school." As Solomon said that, he saw a visible change in the brothers.

There were hints of jealousy and anger in their eyes. They were jealous that someone was that close to Y/N. Solomon ignored it, and continued.

"She mentioned a specific song coming on a movie you were watching. It's a song that her and Tooru grew up with. So it's a sentimental song to her." Lucifer looked at Solomon with some confusion in his eyes.

"How do you know all of this information?" He asked in a curious tone.

"When I was younger I went to their elementary school. I became friends with them, but Y/N has told me she doesn't remember much of me back then." Solomon explained in a calm voice.

"I see..." Lucifer sighed, and pondered to himself for a moment. He then turned to his brothers.

"I'm going to go see Lord Diavolo." He said as he swiftly left the manor. He had an idea.

Although none of the brothers liked the idea, they would rather see Y/N happy and not sad. After all, they had all grown to care about her...maybe even more as friends.

Y/N's POV

I woke up underneath the blanket, like I have for the past few days. I've been crying a lot recently, and I haven't been getting a lot of sleep either.

"Tooru...." I called in a soft voice. I knew he wouldn't just magically appear, but I just felt like saying his name.

"You called, beautiful?" Those words made me practically jump out of bed. Tooru was standing next to my bed with his arms out.

"T-Tooru...?!" I ran over to him, and nearly made him fall over as I hugged him.

"Oh come on! I told you not to cry, didn't I?" He chuckled as hugged me back. Happy tears started to fall from my eyes.

"B-But how-?"

"It was Lucifer's idea." Belphie answered as he opened the door. All of the brothers were standing there.

"Solomon told us how much you missed your friend." Lucifer said curtly.

"We didn't want to see ya so sad, so he brought him here for the day." Mammon added on.

"Solomon told us his name, so it wasn't hard to find him. He was also on the list for the exchange program, right Lucifer?" Diavolo walked into the room, and smiled at me.

"Y-You guys! Thank you so much." I clung onto Tooru tighter, and he sighed. He was used to my behavior by now.

"So, want to show me around this big house?" He asked me. I nodded and grabbed him by the sleeve.

"Yeah! There are so many cool rooms here." I dragged him out of the room, and proceeded to show him the manor.

3rd POV

"Haha! She seems to be in high spirits again." Diavolo laughed.

"I'm happy she's happy again! I don't like seeing her sad." Asmo chimed in.

"Yeah. She usually lights up whatever room she's in. It was kinda hard to see her like that." Belphie smiled softly.
