The next morning, the interns stood outside the bathroom door, Izzie having locked herself inside.

"Izzie, Izzie, come on!" Alex called out.

"Ok, she's been in there all night, we have to do something."

"Yeah." All the interns agreed, Helena with her eyes closed as she thought through the situation.

"Why are you all looking at us?" The blond complained, making Helena's eyes open to find her friends staring at her and Meredith.

"Well, this is familiar territory for you two." Cristina explained, Helena's brows furrowing.

"There is nothing familiar about this. Unfamiliar. Denny died. The man she loves died." The blond responded.

"Why me? I'm happy and nice and... and smiley!" Helena's voice became high pitched.

"Yeah, but you know how to with dark and twisty, Baby Genius. You make dark and twisty... light and, and... fluffy." The Asian woman explained, making Helena giggle slightly. "See?"

"Dark and twisty?" Meredith complained.

"The mother with Alzheimer's thing and the father you don't talk to." Cristina explained.

"And the tequila thing and the inappropriate men." Alex added.

"You are dark and twisty inside, Meredith, and now Izzie is too." George told her.

"So now, all of the sudden, I'm the president of people with crappy lives?" The owner of the house complained.

"We do need to do something. I'm... I'm going in there." George answered.

As the three girls sat in the kitchen, Meredith made sandwiches.

"Why are we making sandwiches?" Cristina asked, flipping through a magazine.

"It's what you do when someone dies. You cook." The blond answered.

"Yeah, I know what to do when someone dies. I am a Jew, I know food and death. It's Shivah." The Asian woman told her.

"Is it Shivah even if she's catholic?" Helena butted in.

"Well, Shivah's what I know what to do, so yeah, it's Shivah. But if we're sitting Shivah for Denny then we should order in, because making sandwiches is not the same as cooking."

"Sandwiches are comfort food." Meredith took a big bite off a sandwich.

"I should make soup, do I make soup after my shift?" Helena asked, turning to Meredith. "What's wrong with you?"

"Everything with me is fine, it's Izzie we're worried about."

"Liar." The brunette accused in a sing songy manner.

"Denny died, Burke got shot. Let's just, have some respect here and agree what I did is a tiny, slightly small..."

"Whatever, spit it out." Cristina complained.

Helena narrowed her eyes at the blond and gasped. "You slept with Derek, didn't you?"

"I don't... how did you...?" The blond started, admitting what she'd done as she saw Helena's raised eyebrow. "Yeah, I lost my panties last night." She revealed.

"Ok, now I've gotta go or I'll be late." She explained grabbing her stuff to leave. "Take care of Izzie for me, ok?"

"Yeah, we will." Meredith promised as she left.

As Helena charted in the ER, she saw a paramedic come in with a little bundle in his arms.

She quickly got up, approaching him. "Oh, god, tell me it's not what I think it is..."

Alex joined her, asking the paramedic. "What have you got?"

"Newborn found in a trash can outside of a school. Umbilical cord is still attached."

"He's dehydrated... why didn't you start an IV?" She evaluated the baby in her hands.

"I couldn't find a vein..." The paramedic explained.

"I need to get an IV access... Olivia, get me and IO needle and an IV intubation kit, please." As the nurse wouldn't move, she called out again.

"Olivia, move!" Alex called out.

"I'm not on the floor, I'm just down here helping with the flu overflow." The nurse explained.

As Helena looked around, finding several sick people, she picked the baby up. "Hum... ok, we're not leaving a sick premature baby in this ER." She muttered to Alex.

The boy picked the baby up, starting to walk out with Helena after him.

"He has to be admitted, you can't just take him!" Olivia warned.

"I'll take care of it, ok? Just page Addison Shepherd, tell her to meet us in the NICU please." Helena tranquilized the girl.

——

In the NICU, Addison came in. "Campos, Karev, what do we have?"

"Premature newborn male with petechiae. Platelet count of 17 thousand." She informed.

"17 thousand? Did you transfuse platelets?"

"Yes, but it didn't help." Helena informed.

"Where is the mother?"

"I don't know." The male intern answered.

"Dr. Karev, I'm not asking you where the mother is for my health, I expect you to use your brain! Where's the mother?"

"Dr. Shepherd, they left him in a trash can at a highschool." The girl explained, her heart heavy.

"The left him in a trash can..." The attending whispered.

"He's got some intra-abdominal bleeding, should I run some more tests?" Alex asked.
