Chapter 13 - Minor Inconvenience

Shattering the glass of the window she stepped into the place without a care. She didn't think anyone would hear the muffled sound of glass breaking at this hour of the night.

Nor did she care if they did.

If people were to interpret her, they would simply be added to her list of food— mass for her to grow further.

Especially now that she knew this was the world of Marvel, a dangerous place filled with all sorts of beings and creatures that could end her currently.

None of them however are currently near or in the town she was in, so she didn't have to worry about that yet.

So she calmly looked around the inside of the store after she had entered it, browsing the clothing that we're left out, for anything to wear.

She didn't want anything that would restrict her movement so a dress was out of the picture, they were far too limiting with movement and would damage much easier in the environments she was used to.

Good thing the store had jeans and tops she could wear.

She picked out a simple pair of black jeans and a matching black top. Not only because the colors suited her taste, but also because their darker shades made them blend in better with the environment.

Something she needed as an apex predator.

She quickly slipped into them— fitting her body somewhat loosely due to her small frame. But that made it easier to put them on.

Once she was finished getting dressed she turned to leave the store, however as she was leaving she heard the sound of something suddenly clicking behind her.

A direction in which she noticed a door earlier— a door she thought merely lead to a storage area for the store.

Turning to the door she saw a man that seemed to be somewhere in his late 50s standing at the frame— holding what looked like a shotgun in his hands.

No, it was definitely a shotgun, even in the darkness of the store she could see it very clearly due to her ability to see in the dark.

He didn't even hesitate to pump the gun and point it at her, only hesitating to shoot because of the young look of the girl.

"Who are you?"

The man asked with a thick accent, of which she didn't know.

Her eyes scanned the body of the man trying to remember if he was anyone important in Marvel from what she could remember, only to draw a blank.

This meant he was most likely no one— and was merely a person in this world, a normal person. Granted that normal person had a gun.

Suddenly an idea came to mind as she was observing him— can she take a bullet?

She knew that if she got shot in her head or heart she would die, but her body was much stronger than a normal human body, she just didn't know how much stronger.

She also could heal much faster than a normal human— and consuming mass even sped up that process— so now she was curious just how much she could take.

She decided to test it out, opening her mouth to speak to the man.

"I don't know."

She replied, her voice sounding somewhat hoarse and dry from how long it had been since she had last opened her mouth to speak.

"What do you mean you don't know, why did you break in here?"

The old man asked once more, keeping a keen eye on the movement of the girl.

He noticed every movement she took— so when she suddenly started moving towards him, he suddenly got very tense, aiming to gun at her properly and shouting.

"Don't move!"

He said once more, but she didn't listen, she kept moving— moving closer to him which each step.

The man got tenser, he didn't know what to do. On one hand, she looked like a mere child, on the other hand, she suddenly broke into his store in the middle of the night and is walking toward him.

The darkness didn't help— it added to his fear— the glow in her eyes penetrating the darkness and sending a chill down his spine.

He panicked, and he was about to pull the trigger— about to shoot the girl.

But before he could do that a pain erupted from his chest, it was the worst thing he had ever felt before in his entire life. The coldness suddenly overtook his body as it went limp.

He tried to move but he couldn't— he dropped the gun and his body followed shortly after, falling to the ground as he felt the warmness of his own blood pouring onto his cooling body.

He was dying, he instantly understood that— he could feel all his strength leaving his body and the world around him fading to darkness.

He couldn't hold on much longer, he thought about his grandchildren— they were going to be left all alone with his death, no one left to take care of them.

He couldn't bare with it, his final words muttering out as his life faded away.

"Damn mutant."

Was all he could say, before his life vanished, leaving him dead on the floor.
