"You said as far as history goes...but there's more isn't there?" Makai observes.

Aris smiles sadly and glances at my father again, who rubs a weary hand over his face and gives a barely perceptible nod. What is going on?

"You're right. The reason the Werewolf Council was called to help was that one of our own had connived with Archer Nahash to make themselves the leaders of both species. Their plan was so brilliant that it might have actually worked, if not for a witness who was there when the alliance was being formed but managed to escape. We didn't even believe his story at first."

Quinn gasped. "A werewolf? Why don't we know this? I have read the history books extensively and I remember a story about that alliance with the witches and warlock council to fight against the threat, but I don't recall any wolf being involved as part of the threat."
