Class is in session-8

-morpheus's pov -

I stood I front of my fourth year students, they all seemed eager for me to start this lesson. I guess I have had an effect on their opinion of Divination I still remember my first class with all of the older years, they seemed bored.

Say what you will about me but, it does bring me genuine happiness when I am making a positive impact on my students' lives.

"Okay, class today we will be talking about the four main methods used in divination, contrary to popular belief these methods were not always used as you would now. Crystal balls used to be made of any reflective material that could have been shaped into a globe, diving rods were staffs whittled down carefully, tarot cards were painted often with animal blood, and books were scarce so symbols were used. Over the years these methods were improved upon and honed to make what you see today, now that doesn't mean we can't learn anything from the past. It is the opposite actually, the past can help us in the future. Many masters of divination including myself make our own materials in accordance with the old ways." I paused for a second letting everyone soak in my words

"Today we will be learning something unique, we have already established the fact that anyone can learn divination with hard work and dedication but, that doesn't mean there aren't ways to improve faster. Soon I will ask you all to blindfold yourself, then you will all put your hand over your table and feel with your magic the item that resonates best within you. It might be easier for others but, please if you are getting discouraged ask for help," I announced to the class

Someone raised their hand, "yes, the student in the back," I called out

"Marinette Helshire sir, I thought that only wands worked like that?" she asked

I smiled, "well Marinette, it's actually a little known fact but, most things made out of magical materials have the same or similar type of magical resonance as wands. Many don't realize it because even if you don't use something that resonates with you it is still able to be used while wands are almost impossible to use if it isn't your own wand,"

"Now, the pull won't be that strong seeing as these materials aren't top of the line but, there is nothing we can do about that," some laughed and I continued, "Now I want you all to either close your eyes or blindfold yourself," I watched as everyone in the class did as I asked

"Feel the magic around you, let the magic guide you, flow with the current, not against bathing in the mystical forces that connect with your very magic," I saw most of my students relax in their seats

"Relax, imagine all of your worries drifting away, a boulder on top of your shoulders gets lighter soon turning into a feather,"

"Your magic is guiding your as if is a bright light at then end of a dark tunnel, reach out to that light and seize your potential,"

One by one students began to grasp one of the items at their table, some grabbed a book others a rod, and rarely someone picked up a tarot card deck.

The students opened their eyes and looked on with astonishment and glee seeing what they accomplished, I smiled lightly to myself seeing this scene.

"Good job! Many when they find out their most optimal route stick with it and become what others call singular masters, they dedicate themselves to mastering one art of divination. If you want to become one tell me at the end of the year, for now, at the beginning of every class for fifteen minutes you will practice with your resonated art. I want you all to ask questions whenever you are stumped,"

As I went to talk more the clock chimed signaling the change of periods, as the students began to leave I called out, "Mr. Note I would like for you to stay back,"

"Of course professor," he replied while standing near his desk

He signaled for his friends to carry along, I waited as everyone left before turning to him, "Mr. Note may I ask why you took this class? You barely pay attention and seem bored half the time,"

He looked away from my eyes, he fidgeted in place as if he was scared to say anything, "I-i like divination but, I have been so busy with my studies and catching up with what I missed last year because I was in the St mungos. I'm not bored just so tired," he admitted his head hung low in shame

He was a good liar, most would have believed him.

"I see, that is a shame. We will need for you to catch up on your schoolwork then yes?" I replied

"Yes sir, I am trying but it's very time-consuming," he replied with a sad sigh

I don't even know why Albus let him advance a year. Usually, the kid would have been held back.

"Well then, can you not have your friends help you?" I asked

He mumbled something.

"Speak up please," I told him

"I don't have any friends," he replied in a weak ashamed tone

"Well then, detention for the rest of the week," I announced with a sly grin

He looked at me with a puzzled expression before a smile flashed on his face, "thank you, sir," he said walking toward the door

"Have a good day," he left with those parting words

It's sad really, that kid already ingested demonic blood, his mind is already corrupted, and his soul is forever tainted.

Just talking to him I could tell he was having trouble restraining himself, he desperately wants to release his newfound strength.

The problem is that he is incurable, if I met him right when he first ingested the blood I could save him but, he is too far gone.

I sighed and got ready for my next class.

-break-

I briskly walked into the great hall, it was dinner now and everyone is eating, I stayed a little longer in my room brushing up on the material I provided for class.

As I took my seat the other professors were already talking about something, "he was just healed? And Pomfrey says she didn't do anything?" Filius asked curiously

"Yes, quite strange if I do say so myself," Minerva nodded along

"Intriguing," Albus said stroking his beard

Turning to me he said, "Morpheus, you were the first to see the student, you even used several diagnostic charms. Anything interesting to add?"

I look over at him and smiled, "nothing much, unfortunately, it was definitely a very dark cure that was used though, it was almost parasitic,"

Which is true, the spell could have spread through touch but the effects would be way less than what the original victim received.

"I see, how interesting," he replied absentmindedly

I scoffed, "ah yes very interesting having someone throwing around curses like that in your school,"

He sighed and replied, "I am investigating, I am not everywhere at once,"

I cracked a grin, "I guess not,"

Some of the professors looked at me strangely, they have never seen someone actually talk to the esteemed headmaster in such a way. They need to learn that authority does not equal respect.

What's he going to do? Fire me, I am rich this is just something I'm doing for fun.

I left the grand all after I finished eating, I needed to prepare for my first detention so I headed back to my classroom.

*creak* my door was opened and the fourth year stepped through.

"Let's begin, shall we?" I asked with a crooked smile

-end-
