"I can't believe you still hate me so much after fifty years… Gellert," Dumbledore said with a sigh.
"You should be well aware of the number of killings that occurred during the last Wizarding War, and that even without me, others would have stepped in to stop you…"
"I have always believed that strength does not truly determine who wins…" Dumbledore's voice boomed like a bell.
"What would that be? Faith? Love? You're probably confused, Albus, and that's only in the most ridiculous stories!" Grindelwald's words became sharp. "The truth is that I lost everything in that duel fifty years ago, and that's it."
"If the outcome had been the other way around, you would be sitting here in chains…" Grindelwald said darkly, his expression quickly returning to normal. "So… thank you for fifty years of imprisonment, Albus. It turned me into a desiccated corpse who was willing to wait for death…"
Dumbledore fell silent, and after a long silence, he suddenly waved his wand and tapped it gently on Grindelwald's shackles.
"If you insist, I'll give you a chance…" Dumbledore said noncommittally.
The chain that had held him for fifty years snapped with a soft pop, and Grindelwald flexed his wrists, though his mouth remained set in a sneer. "I told you, I refuse any of your offers…"
Ignoring Grindelwald's words, Dumbledore said, "You help me with that spell, and I will add one more point to the original bargaining chip — how about I give you all my magical insights?"
Grindelwald was taken aback by this, and gave Dumbledore a long look.
This was because Dumbledore's bargaining chip was indeed very tempting. As a former opponent, no one knew better than him the power that Dumbledore possessed. Whether it was fifty years ago or today, Dumbledore was the most powerful wizard in the entire wizarding world!
There is no doubt about it…
Although they were neck and neck in their youth, Dumbledore chose to spend most of his time developing his influence and recruiting students, while Dumbledore was more focused on teaching and academic research, and was naturally better at magic than Dumbledore.
Crucially, they studied magic in different ways, and if they could gain all of Dumbledore's magical insights, they would be able to greatly improve his abilities.
"That's not enough. I need the three Hallows you have and how to use them!" Grindelwald demanded, making a forceful offer.
"Of course. I'll have someone bring it to you after I'm dead." Dumbledore nodded, his expression calm.
Grindelwald frowned at Dumbledore's easy acceptance of his offer, and felt uneasy. With Dumbledore's knowledge of magic and the Deathly Hallows, Grindelwald was confident that no one in the wizarding community would be able to stand against him, and he would be able to bring them all together to achieve his goal of restoring wizardkind to power.
"What exactly are you planning, Albus?" Grindelwald demanded.
"It's very simple. I think it's time for the wizarding community to make a change…" Dumbledore said solemnly, raising his eyebrows. "But not according to your methods, and I don't think you're going to win! As I said before, there will be others who will oppose you even if I don't intervene…"
"So you're going to do it again, like you did with Newt Scamander fifty years ago?" Grindelwald sneered. "Who did you choose this time? Ivan Hals, the genius brat you always talk about?"
"That's why you failed, Gellert," Dumbledore said quietly. "You stubbornly believed that someone was behind all of this, leading the war."
"But the truth is that no one has ever really been in control, and Newt is willing to stand up to you not only because of my orders, but also because of his sense of justice…"
Grindelwald sneered and did not respond. He knew very well that Dumbledore was a master of manipulation and manipulation, and yet he insisted that everything was up to Dumbledore.
"In other words, you're prepared to inspire that brat's sense of justice so that he will do your bidding?" Grindelwald asked disdainfully.
"You're wrong, I can't do that, and I'm not prepared to," Dumbledore said with great interest. "So if you're asking me where the future of the wizarding world ultimately lies, sadly, I don't know, and I don't have an answer… it's not something a dying wizard should be thinking about, and perhaps a younger man would have a better idea."
"You don't know that!" Grindelwald said darkly.
"Really? Well, why don't we make a bet? A bet is the future of the wizarding world…" Dumbledore's face lit up, and he said briskly, "I can give you anything you want, be it knowledge of magic or the Deathly Hallows, and you will have to play along with me, such as helping me with that spell…to get rid of Voldemort!"
"What do I get if I win?" Grindelwald asked suspiciously.
"Then I offer my apologies and admit that everything I have done in the past was wrong and led astray…" Dumbledore said casually, then laughed. "And, of course, the other way around!"
Grindelwald's face twisted, then twisted in anger. "Well, well, I look forward to it!"
With the three Sacred Weapons and his greater strength, he had no chance of losing…
When Grindelwald agreed, Dumbledore extended his hand, and Grindelwald took it without hesitation.
"By the way, there is one final restriction, or…a request. I do not want you to use my power to cause too much killing," Dumbledore said suddenly, before he could cast the spell.
"A ridiculous idea…" Grindelwald scoffed, but agreed.
As soon as the oath was taken, a complex magical pattern appeared on the backs of their hands, which then quickly disappeared.
Ivan, watching from the sidelines, apparently noticed that Dumbledore's condition had improved considerably, and the spell had apparently taken effect…
