"Kennedy?" Jay says looking at me, I look over to see him with a serious look on his face

"Ya?" I say nervously

"What happened between you and Voight, like how did you two meet?" He asks as we sit down at a table with our coffees and muffins

"I kinda got mixed up with the wrong people, before I went back to school and Antonio was still in the academy at this time" I begin

"Hank caught me one night shooting up with my then boyfriend Michael, Hank came up and said I looked familiar so I told him my brother just finished the academy and was at station 21," I say taking a drink of my coffee

"I told him my name and he dragged me to his car and I swear to god I was so scared and he put me in the back and told me to stay, he walked away and dealt with Alvarez my old dealer and Michael" I pause

"That night I was so fucked up because of the drugs and so intoxicated I threw myself on him and he pushed me off but I did stuff and stuff happened, once my family found out it was them or Hank, I was so ready to spend my life with him, but then I was naive and young and stupid I thought it was meant, if Hank hadn't told me to leave I would probably I don't know possibly still be with him and hadn't gone to medical school" I say looking down at my coffee knowing all this wouldn't have happened if he hadn't told me to leave that night

"Do you miss him?" Jay asks with hurt lacing his word

"Somedays yes but mainly when I feel lonely," I say tearing a piece off my muffin "but lately I don't feel that way" I add looking up at him

" Why?" He asks putting his cup down on the silver metallic table causing a small clank noise

"I have you, the last few days have been good," I say smiling "I don't know there's something about you that, that doesn't make me feel lonely anymore," I say smiling down at my coffee

"When I was in Africa all I wanted was to be here near Voight, but now I just want to be near you," I say

"There's just something about you which I find addicting an I just want to be near you" I add

"It's safe to say the feeling is mutual" Jay smiles, "something keeps me coming back to you," he says

I smile and we finish our coffees and start making our way back to my apartment

As we near my apartment Jays phone starts ringing

"Its Voight," he says answering the phone and leaning against the small wall by the front doors of my apartment

"Ok I'll be in as soon as possible I just need to head home and shower and change," he says smiling my way and waving since I was waiting for him in the lobby, the door was open so I could hear what he was saying

"No, I'm not home I'm with Kennedy we just went on a run this morning" he adds

"Ok bye" he hangs up and walks up to me and hugs me

"Duty calls we just got a case in and Voight wants me in see you after work?" I nod and kiss his cheek before running out to his car

I walk up the stairs instead of taking the elevator

I finally reach my apartment, I grab my keys and unlock the door, I walk in and finish cleaning my dishes from this morning

I look at the time to see it was 9:30, I decided to my sister too see if she was on shift

hit send and walk upstairs to take a shower, I connect my phone to the speaker and turn my music on

I strip out of my workout clothes and jump into the hot shower letting the water cascade my body, I grab my green apple body wash and wash up

I hear Gabi's ringtone go off and I grab my towel and wrap it around my body, I carefully step out of the tub

I text back and ask if she wanted to go for breakfast and she texts back saying she'll pick some up and come here so we can watch some movies before I start my shift
