Chapter 3 - The Early years part 2

As I looked around, I could clearly see that it was left here, wether by human or another pokemon I don`t know, but what I do know is that I can`t just leave it here. With that thought I lifted it up and started walking again. I kept walking until I reached a river, where I sat down with the egg on my lap.

I sat there thinking about what pokemon it would be when I started hearing noices from a bit further up the river. I stood up, still holding the egg and went to check it out. When I got there I could see a pokemon was stranded on the ground. The pokemon had a fish-like shape with a greyish coloring with blue fins. It was a Feebas. Though how it ended up here was a mystery. They are mostly seen in the Hoenn region.

I walked up to it and bent down. "Hello there, do you want some help getting back in the water?" I asked, hoping to have a new friend in this Feebas. I could clearly see in its eyes that it had very little trust in humans, but I stood my ground waiting for an answer.

(A/N: Since one of Michelles wishes was to understand pokemon, I will write their dialogue as normal speech, though only Ash can understand it. I will change this when not necessary.)

"Need some help there?" I asked the Feebas.

The Feebas looked at me and said in a quiet voice, "Yeah..... thanks."

"No worries." I smiled as I carefully picked it up and let it back into the water. I sat down at the edge cross-legged with the egg in my lap while smiling and looking out at the river. The Feebas silently swam around before coming back to the shore and looked at me and the egg.

"Thanks again. And whats up with the egg?" It asked me.

"Well, youre welcome. And I found this egg while walking around the woods. It seems to have been left behind either by a trainer, or something happened to its parents. I have no idea what pokemon is inside."

"I see..... whats your plan then?" Feebas asked me.

"Well first of all, I was planning to have lunch if you want to join me. I always carry some pokefood on me since I`m learning how to care for pokemon."

"Sure I would love to." The Feebas excitedly said.

I took out a bowl from my backpack and filled some pokefood into it and laid it in front of the hungry pokemon. While Feebas was eating I pulled out a sandwich for myself and started to eat as well. While eating I got a thought.

"Hey Feebas. I got a question for you."

"Yeah sure whats up?" It asked me.

"I`m planning to be a trainer in the future, so what would you say to coming with me when that time comes?" I asked the water pokemon. It seemed surprised at that question, but soon fell into silent contemplation. It thought about all the journeys it could have while mmeting new pokemon and people, while also seeing new exciting places.

"That.... actually sounds like fun. But you know that I`m pretty useless right?" Feebas asked while having low self-esteem.

"STOP IT!" I said loudly to the Feebas taking it aback. "All pokemon can be strong with training and care. So stop looking down on yourself." The Feebas looked surprised at my words, but soon smiled at me.

"Then please show me how." It said softly to me. I smiled at this and looked at my system inventory and took out a red and white ball. I had some quests before, and one of the rewards was a pokeball. My system may not be fully unlocked before I officially become a trainer, but it still gave me quests.

"Then just tap the button here and be my partner." I beamed at it. The Feebas took a look at the ball before tapping the button and getting sucked in by a red beam. The pokeball rocked side to side for a couple seconds before giving a `DING´ sound, marking the capture a success.

After this I took the egg and pokeball and started to make my way back to the lab.

When I got back I got curious looks from the other kids while Oak looked at me in surprise. It is afterall not every day that a seven year old comes to you with a pokemon egg. I walked up to Oak and looked at him with a tilted head.

"Something wrong gramps?" I asked him.

"Ash, my boy. Where did you find that?" He asked while pointing at the egg in my arms.

"Oh the egg. I found it at the old tree. Then I found a pokeball a bit away, and ended up catching my first pokemon not far from there." I told him with a little lie about the ball. I could`nt exactly say `Hey gramps. I was reborn and got a system in my head that give me stuff´. Oak looked at me in surprise hearing this.

"And what pokemon is that if I may ask?" He asked me, curiousity taking over the old man.

"Eh, it`s a water pokemon, so we need some water if you want to see." I told him with a bit of mystery in my wording. It did`nt take us long to go to the pond that was behind the lab. The other kids were also curious. It`s not every day that someone that young captures their first pokemon.

I stood in front of the pond and took out the pokeball. "Come on out." I said as I threw the ball in the air. The pokeball opened with a light that went into the water. Oak and the kids were waiting in suspense as we waited for the pokemon to surface. They started holding their breath as the water started rippling and bubbles were sent to the surface. Once Feebas surfaced they were surprised and excited seeing the fish pokemon coming to the shore where I greeted her.

Oak looked dumbfounded as he saw this pokemon. He went closer to take a look. Feebas saw him come closer and was about to dive under again, but I quickly told her that he was the one teaching me about pokemon making her more relaxed.

"Incredible. A Feebas here in Kanto. They are mostly found in the Hoenn region. Tell me, how did this happen? I mean, how did the two of you meet and Feebas getting caught?" He asked me while still looking at Feebas.

"As I said, after I found the egg and ball, I went a bit further into the forest and saw a river. I was about to eat my lunch when I notices her on the shore. I helped her back in the water and we ate together where I told her I wanted to be a trainer and asked her to join me." I said while smiling with Feebas. Oak looked at the two of us in surprise, but soon smiled too.

"Well then. Once camp is over, lets teach you a bit more about the care and needs of a pokemon shall we?" He said, still smiling at the two of us. Feebas and I looked at eachother before the biggest grin ever spread across both of our faces as we turned back to Oak.

If only professor Oak knew how much work he just made for himself the next couple years...
