Chapter 25:The prince's trail

The mission was as follows. Turns out that the crown prince was to escort his fiancée to her kingdom, the Marth Kingdom. Unfortunately, they were ambushed as they crossed the border. It is uncertain who instigated the attack but the crown prince and his entourage managed to escape.

They found a ruin and decided to hide there since there were still people looking for them. One of the crown prince's guards send a message using a magic bird technique. The bird arrived two days ago and nothing was heard ever since.

The king wanted to send troupes immediately but the other nobles were looking for a chance to strike and the king couldn't leave the castle vulnerable to an attack. He thus decided to send Rowan after hearing about his brave feats from Jayden.

Rowan sighed as he got his things ready for his trip. He wore a black shirt with the Uchiha symbol on the back. He wore long black pants and some black boots. He strapped his self-made utility belt around his waist. He looked at the twenty shuriken, ten kunai and paper bombs at his disposal.

He divided the shuriken equally in two pouches at each side of his waist. He hid four kunai on his body and the rest in his back pouch. Two kunai in his boots and two on the side of his thighs. He stuffed the paper bombs also in the back pouch before reaching for the Kusanagi Sword.

Rowan strapped the scabbard behind his back and slid the sword into it. He packed some clothes in a bag and then he was ready. He walked out of his room and softly went to the front door. He reached out his hand towards the doorknob and a voice talked behind him.

"You forgot to pack food," Angelica said as she handed Rowan another bag. He gave her his farewell and went out of the door. He found a lazy Kurama basking in the sun and kicked him. Kurama got up and stood next to Rowan. He climbed on Kurama's back and they head off.

Rowan looked at the magic bird that the king gave him before telling it to return to it's owner. The bird flew off into the distance and he chased behind it on Kurama's back. The bird flew fast and it caused Kurama to have to use his all to keep up.

Rowan was surprised to find that the route he was on was really peaceful and he could chase after the bird without problems. Rowan just finished this thought when a demon beast that looked like a pig came running from the forest and heading in their direction.

Rowan pulled the Kusanagi Sword out of it's scabbard. He waved it at the pig before putting it back. A crescent moon projectile shot towards the pig at an extremely fast pace. The projectile had a green hue to it which contained wind chakra.

The projectile was far faster than before and cleanly cut through the neck of the pig before continuing into the forest and destroying everything in it's path. Rowan wanted to check what type of crystal was in the pig but he was in a hurry.

After two hours of constant running, they finally got to the border and Rowan recalled the magic bird. The bird flew to him and vanished into his body. He looked at the bodies on the ground and saw some tracks heading into the forest.

He looked at the bodies again and saw there were some guards and mysterious men in black mixed in. Not wanting to waste time, Rowan headed in the direction of the tracks on Kurama. Kurama sniffed the tracks and ran in a zig zag pattern.

"Who goes there?!" a voice screamed in front of Kurama. Rowan looked at the guy in black and noticed that there were around ten of them in the surroundings. "Are you responsible for the attack on the crown prince?" Rowan asked and then the guys reached for their weapons.

Body Flicker Technique. With the wind chakra added, the men in black couldn't see anything. The guy in front of Kurama only saw Rowan appear in front of him with a kunai in his hand. The kunai was placed at his neck and he could feel a drop of blood running down his neck.

He heard some groaning sounds coming from around him and saw the guys close to him falling over. All of their heads were severed from their bodies. The guy looked at the twelve-year-old boy in front of him as if looking at a monster.

"Who are you and why did you attack the crown prince?" Rowan asked the man in a low voice. The man kept his mouth and eyes closed and awaited his death but that didn't happen. Instead, a sharp pain came from the side of his right eye.

"How about we get rid of your sight then?" a sadistic smile was on the young boy's face and the man shuddered to think what would happen to him if he refused to answer, so he spilled the beans. They were nothing but a mercenary group called the Black Mice.

Except for their boss, nobody knows who the clients are but as long as they get their money, they will make sure to get the job done. Rowan looked at the guy in front of him and disappeared just to reappear on Kurama's back.

Kurama sniffed the air and ran deeper into the forest. The guy sighed and turned his head to look at the boy riding the huge fox but when he turned his head, it fell off of his body. The guy's mind turned blank, not even knowing how he died.

Rowan reached a clearing and saw the ruins that the king talked to him about. He could see some tracks walking into the ruins and followed them but before he went in, he looked at a stone tablet that was covered in moss. He could feel energy coming from it.

Rowan cleaned the tablet and saw a weird type of language on it. "It's elven," a voice came from behind him. His sword flew from his scabbard and he aimed it at the person behind him. It was a small girl.
