Always so vague

Chris let Sky place their orders. Sky had insisted that he would like the mac and cheese, so he simply let him order for two, and the server seemed to be taking forever to get the orders because she was probably lost in Sky's eyes. Yes, as cheesy as it sounded, it was true, and it was beginning to make him annoyed.

When she finally, thankfully, left, Sky turned to him.

"Why sulking? Jealous?"

Chris scoffed. "Don't you ever get tired?" He asked curiously. Even he had not been consistent in flirting with others like this.

This was beginning to make him worry about whether Sky actually knew he had a little interest in him. I mean, the guy must have always seen him checking him out. It wasn't as if he had been quite subtle about it.

Sky's laughter pulled him out of his thoughts. God! This dude was beautiful.

The wicked guy innocently pulled down his hoodie, revealing his entire face to Chris, before he took his phone out of his pocket when it rang with a notification, and with a smile on his face, he began to respond to whatever message he had received.

The first question that came to Chris's mind was, 'Who the fuck was he chatting with?'

It also made him begin to rethink and wonder if he truly had a girlfriend somewhere. Well, it wasn't very pleasant to his imagination. Even if Sky was not gay, bi, or whatever, he should at least be single so he wouldn't feel guilty about being attracted to someone who had a partner.

He read a message on his phone and laughed before he began to respond to it.

Chris frowned at him and went on to take out his phone too.

He opened his message and frowned. The only people he chatted with were Wilson and his mother.

When he decided to follow this path, he hadn't thought it would be this boring.

Since he had an unread message from Wilson, he opened it and read,

"Why didn't you pick up your calls? You are not angrily moving out, are you?"

"No. I'm fine." He replied.

Almost immediately, Wilson began to type. At the same time, the server brought their orders, but Chris was too engrossed in what Wilson was saying to care.

"Jack sent me a picture. Of... you know who. Want to see?"

That message instantly put him in a sad mood. Of course, he knew who. He didn't want to see it. But he was very curious. It had been a really long time since he last saw or heard anything about him, and he had been crazy curious. His curiosity won out, and he asked for the picture.

He could hear his heart beating as he waited with bated breath for the picture to load. And it finally did.

He saw the two familiar faces. They looked more mature and seemed to have grown even bigger. They both sat on the sand by the side of the beach and smiled brightly at the camera. A happy, bright, confident smile.

Their smile brought a small smile to his face, even though it also made his heartache.

However, he noticed something was wrong. But not with the picture. Sky was unusually quiet and raised his head to look at him, who he found staring right back at him with interest.

He also noticed their orders had been served and the server was nowhere in sight.

"First love? Ex-girlfriend?" Sky asked him.

"What?"

Sky gestured at Chris's phone with his chin. "The look on your face?"

"It could have been anything. Why did you think that?" Chris asked in a dismissive tone, even though Aky had been strangely accurate.

"Cos' I know that look," Sky said, pointing at his face.

"Oh... you're bragging to have seen so many heartbroken faces because you break all their fragile hearts." He taunted, but Sky didn't look amused this time.

"I saw it last night." He said in a serious tone instead, making Chris raise a questioning brow at him.

"When we performed 'Brave for Death'. You looked like you could relate to it. What happened to you?"

"Since you wrote the song, did you also get your heart broken?" he said, turning the question back to him. Although he really wanted to ask Sky how he had taken note of his expression when he was supposed to be focused on performing.

Sky shrugged. "Maybe. Maybe not."

"Always so vague." Chris hissed in annoyance.

"Let's eat?" Sky suggested.

They both kept their phones aside and focused on their meals instead, no longer talking about the broken heart stuff.

"What will you be doing tonight?" Chris asked him after they both ate quietly for a while.

Sky gave him one of his usual mischievous smiles that made Chris roll his eyes.

"I am talking about the show!" Chris said, threatening him with the straw he was wielding. He could tell Sky wanted to go all, "Are you asking me out on a date?" He was done with this guy.

Sky laughed in amusement. "I told you. If you want to know, come watch."

"I'm not interested. Besides, I do not want to take care of a drunk roommate again." He said blandly and went on to sip his juice.

"I already told you I'm sorry about that. Look, I'm even buying you brunch!"

"I can pay for my meals."

"Of course, but I won't let you. I know the scholarship stipend is not much. So you need to save a lot. And I wouldn't advise you to get a part-time job soon so you can focus on boosting your GPA. Until then, I'll take care of you."

Chris locked eyes with him and dropped his glass of juice, his gaze serious as he asked, "Do you care for other people like this?"
