Perseus POV
"You don't look that disappointed." Valentina commented
It's the will to win, this class C-20 or whatever has a much bigger will to win, they want to prove that they are the best. The same can be said for my class, but we have a lot more to lose, making it that we got more pressure and even if we win, our class got the best talent anyway, we'll get nothing out of it, same can't be said for the opposing class, they are placed much lower and got nothing to lose, they want to prove themselves to the people who wronged them by placing them at a much lower rank, they got a bigger will to win and lower talent or not, they went in full force and came out with a victory.
They also anticipated all my class' plans, I would include the fact that they're 1 number down but I doubt an additional A class level student would've made any difference.
Not if that 1 was me, I would have easily eliminate both the classes solo even. But that's not the cases as this was a blow out, Lia did well, seems like doing hard ascension seemed to have paid off, but even though she's the best, she wasn't made the leader, it make sense.
Unlike Acacia who has seen her father in action and probably learned some tips, Lia only studied at some prep school for beginner magic classes and taught to fight for beginners, not to lead a group, she will pick it up though, her father is a leader, but from what Brooke told me, she usually doesn't really pay attention to his work, at least lesser than what she led on.
"Well I got lots of reason, but they'll get past it, though that class C-20 better watch out next year, if my class are made of the people I think they are, they'll make sure to remember this. Hell, Greg and Alvis will make sure our opponents regret this win someday."
"We'll also be sure to give your class a good discount next year so their gears can match rich opponents." Zach added
"Genuine ones?"
"Yeah, not the ones where we mark up the prices beforehand." Zach confirmed
"Are you sure you want to admit this in front of one of your most important client?" Valentina asked "You're basically admitting to scamming me."
"I'll kiss you later and make up for it if you want."
"You'll kiss any pretty woman, so I'm not really flattered." she pouted
Please stop making the cute face that is making me heavily regretting my decision, though at least with her looks I'm guaranteed a beautiful child.
"Well even when we mark up our prices, the discounts do lower the prices, just much more little than what's advertised, we're business minded, it's what we do, and we don't mind admitting it like the others." Zach said
"Don't you want to go comfort them?" Wyatt asked
"Nah, they'll get over it, I barely participate in training and with the next semester coming up, I might meet them even less, and now I might have to skip the exam for the heart ripper case cuz I'm also curious about this person and...the money."
"I just want to meet seductive vampires." Terra chimed in "I have you, but a boss and subordinate relationship is a bit inappropriate."
"I sometime question myself for making that bet and getting you as my subordinate, but at least we have fun. Valentina, you want to join in on the fun and run after some mass murderer who love to steal people's heart like I did yours?"
"No thank you, but I guess this is where I'm supposed to present the individual awards before the placement awards by the fairy king."

"Hey Lia, you got a medal at least." I said as I see her walking towards the class for winning the 'most eliminations' award "You should be proud."
"My parents said the same, it's a shame we couldn't win, we worked so hard as well..." she hung her head down
"Everyone faces a lost in their lives, even an undefeatable foe lost during their early days, I'll cook us something up when we get back to the dorm since your family is staying over for the night and they brought high quality ingredients."
"Yeah sorry for that." she apologized
"Nah, Struan can sleep on the couch and I can sleep on a spare mattress on the floor while your parents get my room, I'm grateful for them since they do sometimes pack extra lunch just to share it with me."
"I feel kinda bad that you won't even get the silver medal along with the prizes, it's not like it's your fault for not being able to join, it's the sentimental value behind it that counts, you are still a part of our class."
"I'll be sure to make you the MVP next year."
Lia can't win the MVP award even though she did the best based on her scores followed closely by Acacia, Greg and Alvis respectively, but the MVP award can only go towards the most valuable student of the winning team, it's unfair for Lia who did very well, but that's how it goes.
But I guess it's time to meet Wyatt's family, but I'll get some help form the Lagunas first.
*****
My sister joined us for dinner as the Lagunas are just comforting their daughter who did her best only to lose and she's feeling a bit down for not doing better.
"So you need some tips on how to investigate this case?" Struan said as he watched over our files "Why can't you just ask them on how they got it instead of me? I mean they got close."
"That's all they gave and we also want to have some outside perspective from a fellow professional, besides a guy who rips people heart out, a person this infamous and yet the entire race, even the royal family got involved, no one is caught, not even a scapegoat was brought forth, don't you find it suspicious?"
