Chapter 87: No Chemistry (2)

Perseus POV

"Wait wait wait." Diana stopped the flashback and called a time out "You didn't get along at all?"

"Oh yeah, I hated his guts, didn't last long though." Valentina answered "See why we need to tell you from start to finish?"

"We? There is no we. You lost that chance a while back and I'm the one narrating from my perspective so shush."

Back to the flashback...

The arguments escalated quite a bit. But I was sort of forced to shut her up, because of course it was a lie, her deduction that this stupidly windy spot is right, but the moment I realized I am being watched, I had to keep up the act of still doing the search, but I am secretly spreading magic to know the amount of their numbers.

I had to tell her that lie and I made sure to spread the lie through sound magic, looking as if we given up on this spot. These raiders are using super high quality items to hide themselves and to protect them.

They got enough numbers to at least stop a potential 100 in their tracks and even eliminating them, if they succeed in that, the queen would be forced to hire only the named and force to reconsider their stupid offer even if she were to anger her own people, she is a mother before a queen.

"Just trust me, alright?! Your daughter isn't here, each of our worlds are huge, just because you narrowed it down to a couple of places, it doesn't mean you're right!"

After we leave, these raiders would be even more confident in this spot since they think we have ticked this off and would take a long while before we double check here with another team.

"I've seen these work before-" she tried to retort before I warped her to a nearby spot and hold her in my arms with one hand over her mouth to signal her to not say anything.

I applied sound magic to make it so that she can't make any noise, and held her to make sure she can't make us get spotted.

"Hah they went away, to think the queen would come herself, maybe we should have increased our demands." dumb guy#1 joked as him and several guys arrived.

"Let's go report back to our group and tell that princess her mommy came, haha." dumb guy#2 joined in

After they left, I let her go a little bit and she hissed at me.

"You knew!" she whispered in an angry tone

"Hey, it's called being smart, I know you're a mother, but please think calmly like a queen for once. No matter how strong you are, they were prepared to fight you and kidnap you too."

"It's your job to protect me! And we call everyone here, they're going to warp her away the moment they sense hostility. We must hit the iron while it's hot."

"I know, trust me for a bit." I then showed her my face and took off my glasses "I'll save your daughter and make sure your hands are clean, you haven't killed before, right?"

"How'd...how'd you know?" she asked as she was stumped for a bit

"You have beautiful eyes, not those of a killer, leave this to me."

Diana then interrupted my story again, much to my displeasure which actually pleased her as I looked really pissed. She is taking revenge for me hiding my relationship with Valentina.

"So why show your face and say that stupidly good romantic line?" she asked

"The showing face thing is basically revealing that I trust her with my identity and it's backed with my ID, I've seen it in an anime once, I think. And so she would then unconsciously trust me."

"Then what about the line that made my heart skip a beat for a moment there?" Valentina asked

"I just thought it'll calm you down with a compliment."

"Are you sure it wasn't also from this anime thing?"

"I seriously just heard that girls like it when you compliment them, so I said it to clam her down in the moment!"

"My brother is an unintentional dense harem protagonist." Diana sighs

"Oi, you can insult me with anything you want, but I'm not dense, and I'm not a harem guy, this novel even proves it with no harem tag."

Flashback...

I used magic to detect where where going and followed them secretly with the queen who were really slow, so I had to carry her against her will and followed them while at the same time texting my sister our location and told them to be on stand by as I will handle all of them.

"You tell your sister, the person stronger than you to be on standby?" the queen hissed

"You want your daughter to die or something? Just shut up and let me do my work."

As we arrived, I handed her this small brick phone.

"I'll text you in case of emergencies. She's either on the 3rd floor or the basement, it's respectively the most guarded and least guarded spots, I sense a few hundred of them here."

"What? You're going in there alone?"

"I function better alone, besides, it's better for a guy like me to do this instead of having you taint yourself in dirty people's blood. I'll save your daughter even at the cost of my life, I'll promise you that."

"Not at the cost of your life?! Let's wait for rein-"

"Valentina." I stopped her by calling her by her given name "Just because we don't get along due to our bad chemistry, that doesn't mean you shouldn't trust my words. Just wait and be ready to comfort your traumatized daughter, I'll warp back here if I can destroy all their spatial tools."

3rd person POV

Valentina was then quiet for a moment while Perseus then smiled and pulled his mask back on and went into the building, it was mostly quiet, but when she peeked out, she have seen that many of these raiders are dead.

And when the others are not receiving their usual reports, they knew something was wrong, but they were too late, Perseus has made his move.

Perseus brought a silenced pistol along as well, he cut some down and he shoots them to make sure they're dead. And wouldn't be long till he made his way to Eleanor. He even used magic to manipulate some rifles to fire loudly at different floors to make it so that they think that there areseveral attackers.
