Chapter 73: Deviant

3rd person POV

"Zeus, why have you given that mortal an artifact replica of your lightning bolt?!" A god yelled as he burst through to where Zeus is at

"Tsk, Odin." Zeus clicked his tongue in annoyance

Odin is an old man who look to be in his mid 60s, 183cm tall, has white hair and a long white beard with only one light blue eye. He wears a cloak, golden armor, a winged helmet and carries a spear like he's prepare for a fight.

"You have broken the rules by directly interfering with mortal problems on a large scale!" Odin accused "Do you seriously think we cannot detect your mind control magic?!"

"Oh, and what are you going to do about it?" Zeus taunted as he got up and approached Odin, facing off with him and glared with lightning filled eyes.

"We all have prides as king, and as king, you should be proud of mortals who has potential to rise to the same position!" Odin shouted to his face "You are a coward! What do you think he's going to do once he reach our level?! Eliminate all of us? Well he might now if you continue to mess with him!"

"You have no idea how powerful the powers of both Amaterasu and Tartarus are combined, old fool! He will surpass us, he already boasted himself being-"

"Like your own children aren't powerful, even with our laws limiting Hera's retaliation, your children keeps popping out like watermelon seeds, the only reason we allow you to continue doing it is because your children get weaker and weaker the more you do it since you've done it past your own limits allow you to."

Odin then turned away with disgust on his face.

"The others are going to discuss about your punishment, no matter how high of status or influence you have, you will not escape it this time." Odin said as he left

Emma is volunteering for the night time patrol again that night and it was strange for one thing, it's that there are no sign of Perseus doing his nightly investigation of the school at all.

If he saw her, he would either show up or give a sign that he's there or at the very least message her either through her phone or the system, so that means that he's not doing his usual activity which is weird for her.

She even got to the boy's side of the dorms and knocked on his door to see no response, Perseus seems to not be in his dorm even though he would usually spend some of his nights playing video games or reading something.

<This is one of those moments again, he'll disappear without a trace.> she thought

She then called Cordelia to see if she knows anything.

"Hmmm? Oh Emma, what's up?" Cordelia asked on the other end

"Sorry for waking you even though you're really tired, but do you know where Perseus is?"

"No." Cordelia answered "Even after the recent events, I approached him and tried to get as much information as I could, but he avoided all of it, sorry."

"It's alright, you can go back to sleep, sorry for my disturbance." Emma apologized before ending the call.

<Maybe I'll just ask the security to check the cameras later, for now, I'll do my shift.>

Perseus POV

I walked into his base and we went to his personal office where Ezio activate this secret doorway by pulling a book. We then walked in it to go to the secret meeting room.

In the meeting room, one more person has already arrived before me, so including me, there's 3 out of 6 executives.

'Rank 13. Name: Rex. Age: 85. Race: Slime. Nickname: Science Fiend. Current floors reached: 49. Individual threat level: SS+.'

Rex looks like a guy in his mid 20s, 168cm tall, yellow and purple eyes, his hair is black on the back half, but has rainbow streaks on the front. He is basically dressed in a lab coat, wear socks and slippers with goggles on his head.

But no gloves since he usually can't get hurt by chemicals, the goggles...I don't know. Apparently can darken or be clear at will, so acts as both armor and sunglasses to not be blinded.

He's technically genderless, but he preferred to be a human guy most of the time, but he can transform his looks to be anything or anyone.

Slimes usually are monsters spawned by the tower and can't be found outside the tower, basically Rex is a slime born inside the tower, specifically, he was a former floor boss.

Even though some monsters and bosses are intelligent, they are still technically mobs, but there are mobs like Rex, they're called 'deviants'. They are rare cases where mobs become a raider themselves, it's super rare, and it doesn't have to be a floor boss, it can even be a random floor one npc.

I don't really know the conditions, but they exist and Rex is one of them.

His battle prowess is weaker than me as the 11th rank, but he's incredibly dangerous for one thing, it should be understandable once you read his nickname. He's smart enough to own dozens of phds in several scientific field and can create or concoct anything.

But his one weakness is his greed of knowledge, it's why he wants to climb the tower, he currently is staying at the lower floors and finishing his experiments first before ascending, as for what he's doing, I don't know.

"Dude, you took so long." he complained as he saw me "Now apologize by giving me your blood or any of your life essence, I can change my self into a girl of any race and help you make it at least feel good during the process."

"Fuck off dude, I don't want you to 'accidently' make a clone out of me."

"I can't make a clone...yet."

"Exactly."

"I can't even make you bleed due to your stupidly tough skin." he commented "Nor can I order the assassins since you're their head."

"Fun as always." a female voice chimed in from behind us "Even though we're early, you guys are punctual than always."
