Chapter 32: Emma

Cordelia POV

Well with his looks and his personality, I never doubted in his ability to date someone, and from the confidence of how he acted around me, it was easy to guess that he dated someone before.

I need someone a bit experience since I'm a bit new to this thing after being raised in a super reserved family, having high ranking officers like my brother and father also scared away the other boys, but never would I expect his ex to be coincidentally our homeroom teacher's sister.

His luck is unusual, like a protagonist, that's for sure, coincidences piled on some more coincidences happening all at once.

Many of our classmates lost a bit of motivation from the recent dungeon, they were scared witless to witness a fight of such a large scale, on the other hand, people and Acacia and Alvis were more motivated than ever to reach the same destination as Perseus.

"You dated with our instructor's sister? Bro won in life already, haha." Alvis laughed and took a swig from his vial of blood "This is hilarious. The lazy guy who always sleeps in class landed himself with the sister of one of the most hardworking man."

Does every girl he know have some sort of secret to being attractive or something? Seriously, this damn guy is just making it harder for me to take him for myself the longer I know him, luckily I think that I look much better, most spirits are beautiful as well, it's why we always win beauty contests.

"You look uncomfortable, did she dump you?"

"Yeah. Right on, princess." he replied

"Don't call me that."

"Think of it as your new nickname, Lia."

Perseus POV

"You might be exaggerating, I didn't dump you, we had a mutual break up." Emma said as she crossed her arm "I don't know whether you're trying to victimize yourself or you just don't want to associate with me anymore...or possibly both."

"Did my sister put you up to this? I thought you wanted to be a clan's instructor."

"Well I knew that this school would be in trouble the moment you step in, the tower made an exception for you to continue climbing without needing to even step foot into the academy once, yet here you are stirring up trouble already...and yes, she did put me through to this."

"He's your ex boyfriend?!" Craig is still lagging in real life a bit as he kept being fixated on that statement for quite a while "He's 4 years younger than you."

"You wife is like 7 years younger, you have no right to judge." Emma retorted

"Yeah, besides, we broke up like a couple months ago. We're on pretty good terms, I just don't like awkward encounters."

"Awkward? We met up just a bit over 3 months ago." she replied

"Shush. Sir Anthony, can we move her to another class? She'll distract me as the sight of her reminds me of the emotional turmoil of our breakup."

"You didn't even cry!"

"Hey, compared to the death of Ghost and Roach, it wasn't able to make me do that, but I still had some emotional damage. Readers, don't you dare put the Steven He meme here."

"We parted ways on good terms, hell, we even made out at our last encounter after the breakup."

The glare from Craig scared me a bit, but I just remember the fact that my sister is scarier to make that fear go away.

"See, can you please make her an assistant of a B class, they got potential to rise and become famous raiders too." I pleaded

"Well, I'm a gambler, you see." Anthony replied "And I will gamble my chances and I choose not to do as you ask."

"I really wish I was a guy who abuse his authority as a high ranked person right now, damn it, why can't I be the antagonist or something, those guys always get what they want."

"And I was right, besides, it's not like you still have feelings for each other, right?"

"No, I don't." I sigh and facepalm.

I'm going to ask out Wyatt and Bora for a boys night out later, this novel has introduced me to many female acquaintances recently, hell...

"Yo, Alvis, want to hangout this weekend? Just time between 2 vampires."

"Are you seriously not preparing for the fight between you and Brennan next week?" Emma asked "Oh...it looks like not everyone has been informed yet."

*****

Cordelia POV

Perseus headed back to his dorm for rest and as I was about to do the same, the assistant instructor, Emma, asked to come along. I just assumed that it has something to do with my partnership with her ex.

"Just call me Emma, we're raiders, instructors or not, address each other by either our last or first names." she requested

"What do you need?"

"There's a reason why Perseus sleep a lot, you know."

"Oh?"

"A ranked mage or magic swordsman possess a lot of mana, it swirls wildly within their body, and the best way to contain it well is either to sleep it all away or release a high amount of it." she informed "But the latter option is dangerous, so rankers choose the former option, it's why they always have people under them to help do their work for them. It's always worse for a mage or magic swordsman"

"So is it a lie that he can spend several days awake?"

"No, it's the truth, but that's if he release mana a lot throughout the days, containing the wild mana is very tiring for him." she answered "As his 2nd partner, you should know this at the very least."

"Thank you."

I then headed to my small kitchen to offer her a drink and we then sat around a bit awkwardly.

"There's one more reason why I'm here in the academy." she said "Perseus is investigating something here in the academy, your father may know something, do you have any idea on what he's looking for in here?"

Even though we talked quite a fair bit, Perseus never said anything about investigating something in the tower, my father may have assigned him to do something dangerous.

"He's still keeping secrets, that guy...tch." Emma clicked her tongue "I can tell you're clueless, so that's why I'm going to need your help."
