"No!" replied Becca. She closed the box containing the ring and then returned it to Tommy's hand.
If things weren't the way they are now, maybe she would have answered with 'yes, I do'. But with a strong heart, she tried to stay strong and looked fine.
"You're kidding, right?" asked Tommy.
"Does my face look like I'm joking?" Becca asked. She folded her arms across her chest as she looked at Tommy.
"I proposed to you, Becca."
"You and I don't have a relationship anymore. Why did you propose to me so easily? The one you even dumped with the stupid thing you did?"
Suddenly her breath hitched. She was starting to get carried away by her emotions and couldn't hold it in any longer. She didn't even have time to cry in front of Tommy or show how hurt she was.
"You broke up with me first, Rebecca," Tommy said.
"And you agreed! You said I'm no longer beautiful, that I'm not even as sexy as the girls out there!"
Becca and Tommy's shouts, who were arguing for a long time in the office room, made the employees look at each other. Those who were previously busy with their respective activities suddenly became silent and listened to what they were talking about.
"See? You're speechless, right? You're not even fighting for what you and I did!"
"Open the door!" Becca asked.
Tommy shifted to make way for her and as a sign that the door was open. Becca left him and even grabbed her bag and left her desk.
Seeing Becca who just left, Tommy's employees were still silent and wondering about each other. Then soon Tommy followed out, facing them all.
"Where's Rebecca?" he asked.
"She's out, Boss."
"Shit!" he grumbled, then continued on his way out of the office.
His eyes looked in different directions. Everyone who passed by he noticed, whether it was Becca or not.
But sadly he didn't see Becca anywhere. He lost track of her even though Becca was hiding somewhere knowing that Tommy would come after her.
Tears welled up in her hiding place. She started calling Ashley and asking her to pick her up around her office.
After waiting for Ashley's pick-up, Becca immediately got into the car, sighing. She had wiped her tears so it wouldn't be too obvious that she had just cried.
"What happened to you, Honey?" asked Ashley. Her motherly nature was really what she needed this time.
"He proposed to me. Just now. Is he crazy?" Becca informed curtly. She cursed Tommy even though she did not deny that she was happy to be proposed to by him.
"Wait, wait, wait ... we'll find a comfortable place to talk. Hold on," said Ashley.
Becca sighed. She followed Ashley's suggestion because after all, a place for a conversation could make the conversation enjoyable.
And when they found a cozy restaurant, they got out of the car and entered restaurant. The two ordered food and drinks and then Becca started talking.
"He's so annoying!" Becca said.
"And why don't you accept him?" asked Ashley.
"Ashley, I didn't expect him to propose to me so soon. He hasn't even asked me to get back together. What kind of relationship did he suddenly propose to me? He thought I would be tempted by his proposal? Of course, not!"
Ashley shook her head. She chuckled with her arms folded across her chest. "I thought you'd thought this through. You did tell me, didn't you, that Tommy had promised his friends to marry you? Well, I think you've thought of what to do."
Becca's body stiffened at the memory of the conversation. Ashley reminded her of that moment. That Tommy would marry her, according to his promise to his friends.
She touched her forehead, massaging her temples which suddenly wrinkled. She felt like she wanted to break her head because it turned out to love so much pain for her.
"I think he will still fight for you in his way. Especially when you two live together. I really don't like your boyfriend, but don't ever underestimate a man who will continue to fight for you, Bec," Ashley advised.
Becca bit her lip and didn't reply to Ashley's words anymore. Especially when the order arrived, her stomach which felt empty was finally filled.
With what happened today and so quickly, she began to think about what steps she should take. Because after all, she would meet Tommy later. They would see each other every day and there was no way Becca wouldn't talk to him even though their conversation since they broke up was quite short.
"It's confusing," Becca said, starting the conversation again.
"Of course it's confusing. You must be happy too, right, he proposed to you. But your situations make it difficult for you to accept him."
Becca nodded. Ashley was the one who understood the situation. She was almost the same as Paige, but of course, Ashley had never once betrayed her.
"It turns out that even accepting him back wasn't as easy as I said. I even remember that incident."
Ashley looked at Becca who began to ponder the events of the betrayal. Truly, she herself was amazed at how tough and strong Becca was, who still willingly lived with her boyfriend.
"Damn, I love him to the point where I really hurt myself!" cursed Becca. She tore up the meat on her plate carelessly and plucked it in annoyance.
"And he should be really lucky to have you. Men are complicated, but love is more complicated. Isn't that right?"
Again, Becca nodded. If only Tommy hadn't been having an affair, maybe Becca wouldn't have ended up like this. If only Tommy had told the truth about what she was lacking, then Becca wouldn't have turned down his proposal either.
"What should I do, Ashley?" asked Becca because she had no idea what to do.
"You should try to forgive him, Bec. If you want him to come back to you, then you have to make peace first."
