19 Todoroki Family

In the past, the Todoroki family was in a mess. An abusive father, siblings who interact with each other but also be distant at times, a mother who was on the verge of mental breakdown. This was the situation in the Todoroki family.

But everything changed eleven years ago, when the eldest Touya started to change from his training streak to being an understanding son and sibling, and a couple of months later, the video of the mental abuse that went on in the family was spread.

After Touya started to be more like a son and an elder brother to his siblings, the household was in a better state. But all things couldn't be happy. Because of that, Enji Todoroki, also known as Endeavour, started his youngest son's, Shoto Todoroki's, quirk training. It was brutal; no four-year-old could take that kind of training and be okay with it. But knowing that his three older siblings and mother would be with him made him grit through the training for a period of time. That didn't go well for him either, because one day he was playing with his siblings after his training section with his father, but he was pulled away from them and was berated that he was not with the failure siblings of his.

That didn't last long either, as the video of domestic abuse done by Enji was shown in the news. Seeing this, the family was surprised first, and then fear creeped up on them, as they didn't know what Enji would do now.

But before Enji could even come home, he was taken away by the HPSC to have a talk with him. In the meantime, the midea swarmed on the mother, Rei Todoroki, to know more about the case, and they had a field day after Rei made the statement, "Don't interfere in my family affairs."

After that, Enji was removed from the hero ranking, and his license was suspended for two years. So the rest of the family thought that when he's at his lowest level, he may change. But to their dismay, that didn't happen at all; instead, he became even more crazier. One day he lost his mind and tried to burn his oldest three children, since he doubted that one of them was the reason for his downfall.

That was when the final straw of hope Rei had for her husband broke. At that time, she awakened her quirk to the next level, and she froze the fire that was hurled at her children. She didn't know how to fight or anything; it was pure instinct—a mother's instinct to protect her children from any harm.

As the fire was frozen by Rei, she didn't stop there; she went above and beyond her limit and froze the fire at its source, that is, she froze Enji as a whole. After freezing him, she looked at her children and said, "Get Shoto, pack your things, and wait for me near the car." Not wanting to be on the receiving end of the wrath of their mother, they did as she said. While they were waiting, Touya spoke to his siblings, "Hey, I'll be back real quick, okay?"

"It's alright, I'll talk to her." He said that he left to see his friend, who changed his life for the better, to say goodbye.

As that was happening with the siblings in the training area where Enji and Rei were staying, Enji, who was frozen by his wife, was looking at her with so much hate in his eyes, so Rei spoke, "You know, we thought you would change into at least a caring father for the kids after watching what you did to us from a third person's view. But look what you did. You almost burned your own flesh and blood to a crisp, and for what? Since they were a failure?" Hearing this, realisation struck him, and it struck him very hard.

Not giving him a chance to think it over, Rei continued, "I don't know what happened to me now, but I know that I've got enough power to rival you. So, I am giving you a fair warning and some advice. Until you get your license back, me and the kids will be living at my mother's. So when you are alone in this house for the next two years, think about what you've done to us and also think about this day over and over again. This is my advice to you. Don't you dare come knocking on the door of my mother's until you understand what you've done to us and are ready to atone for what you've done. This is my warning to you. If you come there just to beat up my kids, I'll freeze your brain." She said that she left the place and took her kids with her to her mother's home.

During those two years, the siblings bonded with each other and their mother. But all of them had different things on their minds. Rei was hoping that Enji would understand the mistakes he had done to his family. The youngest of the siblings, Shoto, was happy that he didn't have to train in a brutal way and to be with his siblings. The second-youngest sibling, Natsuo, was a bit sad that he had to leave his house for the time being but happy to be with his son like this. The second eldest, Fuyumi, as her mother, was hoping that her father would become a better person and happy that she could be with her siblings all the time. And the eldest of them, Touya, was hoping his dad would be a better person and change his attitude towards them, and he was a little sad that for the next few years he wouldn't be about to meet with his friend.

A year later, at the house, as they were eating dinner, Rei, looking at Touya, asked, "What happened, Touya? You looked a bit down the past few days."

"Nothing."

"Come on, son, you can tell us, what's bothering you?"

"Well, you do remember that I always went to Sekoto Peak, right?"

"Yeah, we know. That's where you go for your quirk training." Fuyumi said.

"Well, before I was like this, I met a kid of the same age as Shoto; he is an orphan, and his parents abandoned him at the orphanage."

"Why?" Fuyumi asked him.

"Well, apparently, he's quirkless."

"So you're saying that he was abandoned by his parents after they found out that he doesn't have a quirk?" Rei asked him with a tinge of sadness, thinking, 'How in the world can a mother do that?'

"So, he's the one who opened my eyes after telling me his past; after that, I started to change, and you know the rest. It's just that I don't know what he'll be doing now. I just feel like he has helped me a lot."

"We can search for him after your father is in his right mind."

"Thank you."

"So how does he look?" Rei asked her eldest.

"He looks cute, and he's only about four feet in height."

"That's not a lot to go with. So what's his name?"

"He didn't tell me his family name, but his given name is Haruto."
