Unlikely Alliance

Gia gasped and stepped back toward the door. She expected that the pain-filled screams would stop, but they didn't. The chains that were attached to their wrists strained as all three of the prisoners grasped at their heads and temples, trying to put pressure on the areas that were raging with a blinding pain like they had never felt before. 

"Sage," she said, wanting to reach for him but frozen where she was. "Sage!" 

It was like he couldn't hear her. His knuckles were white at his sides, and the rage was rolling off of him in palpable waves.

Should she try to get him to stop? Maybe they deserved it. Maybe this was what it took to get prisoners to cooperate, but it seemed like too much. It was going on for too long.
