"Host!"
Jerking awake, I clutched the bedsheet, trying to steady my erratic heart attempting to break my ribs.
"Intruder, hostile intruder," System warned.
My hand slowly slipped under the pillow for the dagger, I could hear soft, gentle footsteps on the carpeted floor. Chipe was lying at my feet, snoring, somehow unbothered by the stranger.
"They released a sleeping drug through the window, I had to filter it, but you'll be a little slow," System explained.
The intruder stood over the edge of the bed, I could sense them lifting their arm.
Suddenly, they let out a gargled groan, then dropped to the floor.
Surprised, I spun around, lifting my blade to see a woman in black, with ebony skin.
When our eyes met, she seemed shocked that I was awake.
"Can you see me?" She asked, her words were accented and in English.
