Chapter 32: Dylan's Truth

As Dylan sat on the couch next to Zoe, she could tell that he was ready to talk.

Finally.

So, she made herself comfortable and vowed to listen to every word.

“This is not about trust. I know you would never do anything to hurt me, Zoe. It's about admitting the truth. It is very difficult to run from something and then be forced to face it years later” Dylan said, gulping down the rest of his drink.

Zoe nodded but said nothing. She knew that if she continually tried to push him before he was ready he would simply shut down. Dylan tended to do that when he was cornered, and the last thing she wanted to do was corner him.

So, she waited.

And she waited, hoping that on his own he would open up.

If only he would open himself to her, maybe she could help him.

A few minutes passed, and Dylan said nothing. He held his glass in his hand as he watched the ice melt.

It was clear that he was in deep contemplation.
