Ch 96 – Magic

"H- huh?" I let out of my mouth as I was awoken from my peaceful slumber by the sound of blaring alarms playing in my ears which instantly made my mind go full alert mode.

I hastily got into a sitting position and grab my laptop on top of the table beside me and turned it on, I can't believe my genius plan worked this fast!

"HAHA! It worked!" I shouted with sparkles in my eyes as there lay in front of me the gateway to magic.

A stupid fucking child downloaded Craftmine which has my code in it that in turn allowed me to gain access to their computers and with the simple code I made last night, this computer I am in right now has science-related magickery!

"Now, are they modern and stupid enough to put their magic books or files in their computers or are they still using hard copies?" I muttered while quickly browsing through their files, even the encrypted ones but it just mostly talks about stuff in their family in the magical side of things.

But from what I found, there are magic books in their house and the father is planning to teach their child in just a few hours!

"Oh fuck, I gotta do this quick," I muttered and donned on my invisibility cloak while grabbing some spray guns that shoot out a concoction that would knock anyone unconscious.

And with a push of a button, I appeared on top of a building in jolly ol' England, I knew Europe is connected to magic, my brain is so fucking big.

"Now where is that house located?" I muttered while checking my phone and found a marker pointing north.

"Oh, it's that house," I said with a raised eyebrow as I saw a modern-looking house without a hint of medieval-ness or magic-try on its design.

"So the family is rich, which means mind magic, which in turn solves my mind fuck worries," I said and with a single prompt, I appeared inside an office room with a bookcase beside the wall and a computer lying on top of a table which means this is where Craftmine was downloaded on, and just my luck.

"Hehehe, time to play Craftmine!" said a blond child opening the door and entering the door where I was in.

With me stopping my breath, I went to the corner of the room and waited for the child to sit on his father's chair so I can knock him unconscious, it's night anyway so it's normal if a child is asleep while playing Craftmine.

And without a hitch, the child just sat on the chair, and bam, he's now asleep leaving me with the room all to myself.

With a quick tap to my goggles, the room became transparent for me, and just as expected, there was another section hidden behind the bookcases, classic but dumb.

After a quick snooping around on the books, I found the one that felt weird compared to the other books on the shelf and after pulling it down like a switch, the bookcase moves on its own revealing another bookcase that holds books, magical books!

"Aha!" I said while hurriedly grabbing each book and quickly flipping through each page while my goggles went to record the passages of text and pictures and compile it into a digital copy, it was hard to make this but it did only take me a couple of minutes to code and make so it wasn't that annoying to make.

"Finally, magical books for me to study and learn, now time to leave this place," I muttered while putting all the books back in their places, fixing the bookcase to hide the secret compartment, and with one push on my watch, I appeared back inside my room while plopping down on my bed.

Whew!

"Oh god, that was an adrenalin rush," I said while taking off my cloak and my goggles which I connected to my laptop so I can finally read the books.

Besides, it's still 4 pm in the morning and my sleep requirements have been drastically lessened through my new cancer cells so why not study now and practice in my room.

Donning on new clothes because the previous one was covered in sweat from the thrill of the past heist, I opened the PDF file with trembling hands because this would finally grant me access to a whole new world, the world of supernatural!

"Magic… what is magic? Magic is a power achieved by the first Magician Merlin Ambrosius… he gained the access to magic through studying the devils and their demonic power… there are two types of magic, the one hailing from western and eastern origins… holy shit! You mean Merlin from Arthurian legends is real?! Not only that, angels and fallen angels are real?!" I said while rapidly browsing through the article with bated breaths as I was given a quick summary of the world of supernatural.

Even gods of mythos and religions are real!

Are you saying heaven, hell, Asgard, the nine realms, all of that are real?!

There are tiers to the advancement of magic and the spells you can cast and learn, Tier 1 is equivalent to being past the levels of mortals, Tier 2 is a Low-Class Devil, Tier 3 is a Middle-Class Devil, Tier 4 is a High-Class Devil, Tier 5 is an Ultimate-Class Devil.

But there is the fated Tier 6 where it reaches the levels of Demi-Gods and Tier 7 is for Godly beings.

Just this alone enhanced my worldview of the world and how I should start my plans from now on, magic… I want to learn it and reach the peak of Science and Magic!

With a manic grin, I got into a lotus position and followed the steps I memorized to heart.

Connect with the magical energy in the air, the ground, the surrounding area, connect with the world and try to harness the energy into your body.

At first, it was hard on how I should do it but it just clicked with me the moment I fully cleared my mind without any ideas or thoughts inside it.

Then the next step is to gather it in your body, and the way humans do it is by forming this thing called Magic Circles, not to be confused with the magic circles you make when casting a spell, it's like this because magic is not naturally attuned to the body of humans and is dangerous to gather casually.

These circles allow humans to safely gather the energy into one spot and have defined stages so a person will know when it's time to move up another stage and it provides much more than that.

Due to the formula-ic nature of human magic, you can actually use the circles as a template for the formulas to lessen the burden on the mind, but I could probably change this design later to be different later because there were some flaws in the magic circles like slower growth because you still have to form the circles and not just continuously gather energy just like Devils.

But enough with that, I quickly went to gather the mana in the surroundings and it is still unknown where mana came from but it was theorized to come from something like another dimension where all the mana is stored.

"Hup," I took a quick breath as I focused all of my mind to gather the mana in the air and slowly formed the magic circle in my chest area so it can pump mana all over my body to lengthen my lifespan and make it stronger, a passive form of enhancement brought upon by mana, though it is still inferior compared to those of devils.

At the later stages, the enhancement brought would allow one to crush boulders and lift horses with one hand so Magicians are actually quite strong physically.

"Hoooh," I let out a sigh of relief from my mouth as I felt mana coursing all over my body and plop down back to my bed with a relieved face.

Finally, achieve Tier 1, or the stage that divides a man from the supernatural.

"Okay, let's check the spells already!" I said and quickly went to the spells the man has gathered throughout his whole life to pass on to the child I knocked unconscious and luckily, some of them were interesting.

"Let's just cast a simple fireball, the classic wizard spell," I said as I quickly went to grab some liquids stored below my bed and mixed them together to make a non-flammable, heat resistant material where I can test my fireball at.

So the spells are pretty straightforward though it is only Tier 1 spells, just calculate the trajectory, velocity, heat bla bla bla and I can do these formulas in my sleep.

"Fireball," I said while pointing my hand at the wall, and out came a red magic circle that contained the formula so that it can manipulate the world and bring about the desired effect.

And with shining eyes, my mana flooded into the magic circle, and out came a blazing hot fireball that shot towards foam-like material that absorbed all of the flames.

"Holy shit, it's more powerful than I thought!" I said and quickly grab my laptop as I appeared in the middle of nowhere inside a forest early in the morning.

"Okay, forest it is," I said while and continued my passionate venture into the lands of magic.

(An Hour Later)

"Okay, this device would help me with the calculations, and theoretically, allow me to cast 2 circled spells with my current mana capacity," I muttered and remembered how spells function.

A Tier 1 Magician can cast 1 circled spell like Fireball, but with Tier 2 Magicians, you can cast two spells at the same time with their enhance mind due to the second circle and also having enough mana to cast the spell.

But with enough calculations, I could lower the mana cost and cast Tier 2 spells while still being Tier 1.

So with time ticking down, I put on a set of glasses and directed my hands outwards, preparing to cast a spell.

"Fiery Blades of Winds!" I shouted as out came two different colored circles at the tip of my hand colored red and green respectively as all of my mana poured into the two different circles.

And with a flick, out came blades of wind coated in blazing hot flames that went on to destroy a boulder in the distance with a combination of air pressure that reacted with the heat to produce an explosion at the point of impact.

"Finally, these glasses worked like a charm, I could do this on my own but my brain has other uses than calculating spells, because my brain not needing to calculate anymore, I can just focus on the combat and gathering mana so I could recover while also casting spells," I said while kneeling down on the ground with a groan as I finally ease my worries with learning magic.

Not only that, to think it would formulas really did surprise me as I can make my own formulas already with my understanding of magic.

"Light beam," I said while a white magic circle appeared in front of me, and out came a blazing hot beam of light that pierce a hole directly through the trunk of the tree as it did confirm my suspicions.

Magic, human magic specifically, it uses not just magical principles but the principles of science!

A spell that allows a person to walk on water? That uses buoyancy and the properties of water, the light beam? It uses the natural principles of light and how it acts when concentrated to a point.

Basically, human magic is as easy as breathing for me.

I'm already dealing with stuff like interdimensional travel, what's making an ice lance for me?

So with a yawn, I appeared back in my room to try and reach Tier 2 with my mediocre talent for gathering mana, but I should be able to fix this soon enough.
